Who are you to say that if there is a creator, the universe would look like this?  That has to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard someone say.  A creator accounts for all the "why" questions by not even giving a real answer.  It still blows my mind you think the universe is perfect.  Evolution doesn't suffice as what?  An answer to the "perfection" of the universe?  It's not supposed to explain the universe.  If there was a creator, why would he use evolution as a method for creating something?  He must have a lot of time to kill :<.  Not to mention almost all (every?) religions with a creator directly contradicts evolution.  I think you're confusing the theory of evolution with the big bang theory.

if there was a creator, the universe should look as it is today, a creator would account for all the "why" questions, the perceived perfection of the universe, etc.  evolution doesn't suffice.  evolution would be a nice method used by god, just like starting the universe out an expanding it into life.

Broken record sequence initiated:

- Where the method of design for life was to look like a creator was absent, or that it was infinitely lazy (also notice how brutal natural selection can be).
- Where the design itself is deeply flawed.
- Where disease/natural disaster is a recurring problem.
- Where, as apparent by existence of 0 evidence, the laws of the universe are NOT broken by some supernatural being that you feel would have the liberty to do so.
- Where foreign space objects have collided into our planet destroying life
- Where there is a negative correlation between level of education and belief in a creator.
- Where the devastating fallacy of the existence of a creator somehow exists within nothingness (and does not require an explanation, even though this entity is obviously more improbable - the same way an eye or computer couldn't just "always exist", or "just happen").
- Where you're probably the only person who thinks the universe and earth is "perfect".

Anyways, the reason I joked about your sense of humor is that you said you weren't Christian. Then you post one of the most obnoxious site domain names 'when god sighs' which is supported by Christian dogma.

Also, as somehow you haven't realized, your desire for the 'why' questions to be answered a certain way has no effect on the actual answer.

the probablities if god exists are not are as bogus as saying someone saying god exists, and I know it.  we don't have the evidence, that's just the way it is.

How convincing. Sounds like the rhetoric that has been spoken from the lips of every religious leader in human history who each have completely different and conflicting views.

Can be translated as:

"I have a strong inner conviction that [...]"

"It was privately revealed to me by x that [...]"

which are obviously meaningless....

I am not claiming there are no spiritual dimensions that science doesn't have a handle on yet.  I am claiming that these dimensions don't invalidate the scientific method.

I am still a card carrying member of SETI and used to (before all the hackin' crap - so it's been awhile -  leave ALL my systems up processing) and think Sagan was one of the most important forces in turning our eyes to the skies. Like any teacher, I don't take verbatim everything he says either, if we did that, we'd never learn anything. Man makes mistakes - that's how we learn, and I totally agree with you that spiritual dimensions in no wise invalidate the scientific method.  We may find someday, after science progress far enough that Arthur C. Clarke was closer in 1953 to the truth than he knew.

Perhaps if more of the discussions were this concise (by that I mostly mean unemotional - which may or may not be what was intended when this thread was started) there would be more real stuff  in this thread.
