Oops... had you already posted about that here?    I did a forums search for "god delusion" but didn't get any relevant hits...

Nevertheless, enjoy the book.

Reading the book on the plane last night, I found myself tempted to type whole pages worth of quotations into this thread... 

Just a variety of stuff... I was raised with the notion that the U.S. founding fathers were Christian theists, for example.  (We had a Jefferson Bible.)  . . . So it was very interesting to see much more nuanced positions were taken by Jefferson, Adams, etc. in their own words.  (Letters to relatives, etc.)

And I loved the few pages devoted to the uproar over the "12 cartoons of the prophet"...

I've been impressed by the way Dawkins can often just destroy (unravel the logic of?) commonly accepted viewpoints with a well-chosen counterexample in just a few words...

But anyway - yes, I'm enjoying the book.

P.S. a favorite quote mentioned in the book--not attributed to Dawkins, but I forget who...

"BLASPHEMY IS A VICTIMLESS CRIME"

there is no good scientific evidence concerning how the universe initially came to be, so this isn't nearly as strong of a point he makes it out to be.  i would trust my instincts, especially after reviewing the evidence to the contrary, and realizing it supports my beliefs (that there is a god, concerned with human behavior, something like we our the center of the universe)

What you quoted wasn't scientific evidence, just a common sense argument.

I've never heard of any evidence to the contrary...
