It's a bad form of humor. Calling people stupid is a sign of bitterness.He might believe there are more interpretations, but he seems to not talk about any of them. The more thinking I've done about the subject, the more I believe that God should not be equated with an "invislble man" like he would say, but rather just the concept of intelligent design. Thinking about it this way, many of the biblical verses make sense.
Perhaps, as the saying goes, it's funny because it's true.

I used to assume Jesus was probably a person who actually existed, some sort of enlightened counterculture figure, and subsequently the myth simply subsumed the man. But a different case is made by the above: that Jesus simply likely never existed in fact (even as a person.)
