To teach someone new stuff and have them improve is an awesome thing.Ive watched players get better over a period of time. The fact that I learn something new every now and then makes me come back.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.Teach a man to jump so he can  get away?

I play for fun, period; sometimes I win.  All this self-righteous talk about honourable frags is so serious.  It's a computer game folks!  Have fun any way you like.

I love camping.  Why?  Two reasons I guess.  One, I don't like dying, so I'd rather stake out a defendable position than run willy-nilly all around the map.  Two, it's funny as hell.  All the self-appointed defenders of honor start coming at me from all sides.  I'm not the best player around but I'm a lot more skilled than most campers, so many of you camper-hunters are in for a few surprises.

Hey IOU, no problem, I was just saying I liked your nick.  It's clever.  I assume the "O" stands for "own".  :-)  In my case, it's unfortunately true.

If you've staked out a position that is not in front of a spawn pad, or a weapon, then ASAIC you are not camping....

Oh, don't get me wrong, it's very often in front of a spawn pad, or a weapon, or the top of an elevator.  See reason #2.   :D

There's this one map where people materialize on a ledge above a room, and you can crouch in front of the pad with a SSG.  The combination of "waauugh!" with the sight of a grunt flying backwards, out and down, legs flying... it just never stops being funny.  :D

I camp like a MF.

Curse you, Scrotumus!  For you have forced me to broaden my horizons and seek knowledge from the evergiving knowledge tree that is known as "GOOGLE"

Now I know more than I once knew and am forced to obey a higher calling than I once knew!

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03432a.htm

"Nothing can possibly be conceived in the world or out of it that can be called good without qualification except a good will." But that will alone is good which acts not only conformably to duty, but also from duty. And again the will acts from duty when it is determined merely by respect for the law, independently of inclination, and without regard to the agreeableness or the consequences of the action prescribed.

While for God <http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/06608a.htm>, Whose will is perfectly holy, the moral law cannot be obligatory, it is for man, who is subject to sensuous impulses, an imperative command. Accordingly, the categorical imperative is the moral law enacted by practical reason, obligatory for man, whose sensibility is discordant from the rational order, and demanding obedience from respect for its universality and necessity.
The merits of Kant's <http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/08603a.htm> categorical imperative are said to consist in this: that it firmly establishes the reign of reason; elevates the dignity of man by subjecting in him sensibility to reason and making rational nature free, supreme, and independent; overcomes egoism by forbidding action from self-interest; and upholds morality by the highest authority.

Quoted by Johnny
(For those of you keeping score, that's a crude expression of Kant's Categorical Imperative--an attempt to come up with a basis for morality in either a godless or deist world. I think it is somewhat relevant to the spawn camping issue.)

Just following up on the Scrotumus reference :)

I find it humorous that guys like this say it's ok and fun, and yet diss the people who call them out.

I don't think the guy typing "f*ck you f*ggot no-skill camper" is having fun.  I think he's pounding his keyboard in frustration, when he should be trying to decamp me, if he cares so much.

Besides, I'm a f*cking f*ggot skilled camper.  ;D

So, grow up, camper!  heheh

Not likely; I'm old.  Too late.  ;D

But basically as long as a player doesn't  talk shit, I'm fine with whatever he does. And it IS fun to devote oneself to trying to take out a camper. If the camper has a good spot and even halfway decent skills, the camper SHOULD get the frag 9 out of 10 times, so it's very satisfying to take one down. In those situations, I really don't care what my final frag count is (to get back on topic!)--if I've managed to disrupt a mischief-maker, then I'm happy with my game.

And while I hate any kind of trash talking, I do allow myself to say "camp closed" when taking out a particularly pernicious spawn camper who has messed up the map for everyone or even one who gets all gleeful about what is essentially taking candy from a baby.

 ;)

Speaking of which.... Whatever happened to Sloan????? 'sniff....
