Her name is Mia. She's an Australian shepherd mix. We got her from the humane society. I can't believe someone didn't want her.

She won't let me cut her nails. She turns into a monster and attacks me. They are so long they will start breaking soon.

LOL I had a friend whos pitbull would literally SCREAM when you cut her nails. We had to have one person cover her eyes so she didnt watch it. them she was fine!

The contiual walking will help, but if they are getting to long take her to the vet and have them do it.
The next time you go to the vet just ask them. You don't want them breaking off, it can be a bloody painful mess.
Plus that one high hook toenail can get very deadly sharp and dangerous for her and you

LOL my dog doesn't like getting it done, but she will let me do it.
She does a lot of smacking her lips like she is real nervous.
She won't try to run, but if a relax my grip for a second, she will casually try and saunter away like I won't notice

(she has the white clear claws so it's easy to see the quick when cutting them. I don't have a clue how you clip the black clawed dogs nails)

WITH THE BLACK CLAWED DOGS.... if you flip the dog on to his/her back, and look at the underneath side of the nail, you can easily see the fleshy triangular part of the nail that you need to avoid.... just take the very tips off.

but i agree, if they are already really long and in jeopardy of breaking, get the vet to do it. ( diva has really snapped off some nails befor and i had to bandage her whole foot! )

my dogs white nailed too, so its simple. also my dog is so ez going she actually dozes off while i clip her nails. ZZzzzZZZ lol but when we're all done she jumps up quickly and runs to her cookie bin for her treat!

Thanks Daemia, I always wondered how they knew how to do that!
All those Rottie, Dobie and Dachsunds have claws that are blacker'n the ace of spades and it really bumfuddled me how they could safely clip those nails!

I had a rabbit that had long nails and they don't break at the base. They break in the middle. At least with rabbits.

The next vet appointment is in like 10 months or something so thats out of the question.

oh the reason we only got 5th in that last pic was because during the " jumpoff " ( quickest time competition ) I tryed to get snipper to cut a corner to shave 2 or 3 seconds off our time for the last jump, and we crashed bad.

He fell on his side because the turn was to tight at the speed we were traveling!

But i jumped back on him as soon as he got to his feet and jumped it anyways from a complete stand still. ( without stirrups LOL half falling out of the saddle )

LOL he jumped so virtically i almost fell off LOL but we still beat one girls time!!! or that would have been a 6th place ribbon!!

haha we wiped out and still did better than one chick.
oh man that was funny. we got a standing ovation that day.

I wont ever forget that!
