A little early but it's almost that time. I'm excited as a unc fan and just in general. There's some really good match ups for week 1.

Wisconsin v LSU @ lambeau field
UNC v Georgia @ Georgia dome
USC v Alabama @ AT&T Stadium
Clemson @ Auburn
Oklahoma @ Houston
Ole Miss @ Florida State

All are an interesting contrast in match ups , home/away, and "neutral" sites

Georgia Dome. Most people would think "What the fuck is neutral about that!?!" But where that venue is located is more like Georgia Tech turf than UGA turf. Tech is literally walking distance from it.

I guess this'll be the last year the good ole Georgia Dome will host the SEC Championship. Won't be too much longer (maybe Fall of 2017) and the new expensive as FUUUUUUUCK Falcons stadium will be open. I think it's supposed to have a big LED jumbotron that will outsize the one at Jerry Jones' Cowboys stadium. Supposed to have a really super-elaborate mechanical dome that can be opened like a old fashioned camera aperture. From what I heard, the whole outside is supposedly gonna be decked out with obscene and ungodly numbers of LED ambiance lights that will rival any amusement parks laser show. God only knows how much all this shit gonna cost. Luckily for the Falcons though...

...THEY don't have to pay for it all. Probably close to HALF of it is gonna be covered by the local Atlanta taxpayers as well as the proceeds from the ever-increasing hotel taxes and such in the city of Atlanta. Every time I fucking blink, they're adding onto the Atlanta hotel taxes to pay for more dumb shit the crooked mayor, city council and chamber of commerce just can't seem to live without.

They can make any excuse they want to justify building it, but they're all full of shit. The Georgia Dome is fine. The problem is that the people who decide where big events like the Superbowl are held will no longer consider the Georgia Dome because it just isn't as new and pretty and flashy as some of the others. That's the only reason they're building it. The city leaders want another Superbowl to come through and shit vast amounts of money into their faces. But there is NOTHING wrong with the Georgia Dome. I don't get why these people would spend this much money on the land and construction costs of a new stadium. You don't see the Red Sox ever talking about tearing down Fenway Park. Bah, whatever.

Well yeah, I understand a primarily ga tech fan base being in Atlanta doesn't help. But being in freakin Georgia does!!! There will be a good showing for both teams I bet, but Georgia way more. A lot of Georgia fans, some Falcons regulars looking to see a college game, nc fans, and a few ga tech fans if there's not a game that day for them, at least 3/4 rooting for NC. Not really sure about that, though. Georgia has a big rivalry against ga tech and Florida.... But, do ga tech fans value that over their coastal division rival and favorite to win it, UNC, for this game? Some may be split over that, but 3/4 at least like I said. It's less neutral for NC though, but who cares. It'll be an interesting game. Unc is likely to be ranked anywhere from 16th-19th in the AP when it comes out. I'd bet money they'll sneak Georgia at the bottom when it comes out, even for the sake of promoting the match. Whoever wins will get a good boost in the poll. I think right now Georgia is favored to win by 4 because despite the great talent and strides unc has made, it's really tough for the critics to buy into the hype(see the nc sc opener last year, which was a great season for nc).

Nah, 3/4 rooting for NC wouldn't be correct. More 5/6 of them rooting for UGA. Rooting FOR a division opponent? stereotypical ethnic ghetto-style individual, are you cray-cray!?!

I really have no idea how Georgia will do this year. A new coach... even if I had any knowledge of his playcalling style prior to coming to Athens, who the hell knows what he'd decide to do in the SEC. The smart coach would stick largely to the SEC style defense, maybe introduce his old stuff in doses as the situation called for it. And I haven't kept up with what they've been doing at QB position either. Even if they had some freshman wonderboy prospect, I don't think they have the competent QB coaching anymore to mold him into an SEC Championship contender QB. If they get to December with a better than 6-6 record, I'll be happy I guess. The UGA athletic director won't though, lol. Any coaches first season at an SEC school these days is a trial by fire. They better produce tangible results and improvement, or else they won't be there long. And it's probably a pretty tall order. UGA's finished in the top half of their division for probably longer than a decade, maybe discounting the occasional bad luck year once or twice. So... just STAYING that successful ain't gonna impress the folks who hired him. I'm sure what they have in mind and are hoping for is more like a 12-0 to 10-2 season at the worst. But... hope in one hand, shit in the other, see which one fills up first.

Very interesting article you linked Haunted. It will never happen, but there are many good teams that are weak in a certain area and deep in others. If LSU would have had a good QB the last couple of years, they probably play for and maybe win a national championship.

In a way its interesting, but Im not so sure that Alabama's best lb and qb is a fair trade for unc's qb. Maybe it is when you think of all the offensive weapons and talent unc has, but it's tough for me to give up a truly good QB when I feel UNC's run defense issues need more fixing than just adding an individual play maker at line backer.

Foc I have no clue how y'all roll down there. I honestly felt that in my gut but I wasn't sure. I'm just glad the Tar Heels have the opportunity to sweep the state of Georgia

I think this will be the biggest year the ACC has had in awhile. The ACC coastal division is going to be the best its been for sure.

1. UNC
2. Miami
3. Pittsburgh?
4. GA tech?
5. VA tech?
6. Duke?

Thats my best bet but you can see my uncertainty... For the ACC as a whole:

1. Clemson
2. UNC
3. Florida State
4. Miami
5. Louisville
6. Pittsburgh
7. GA tech
8. NC State

All I know is we have less than 2 months before it starts, I hope these 2 months go by fast.

As it gets closer, I will brush up on my knowledge of the teams and matchups.

I do know Florida will probably struggle at QB again this year. A couple of the new QB's looked pretty good in the spring game, but that is nowhere close to real game action. My first thoughts, I see Florida in 3rd or 4th in the SEC East.

And yes, I know Miami has great talent and they finally got a good coach... I just think UNC has it still. It's a match up that favors NC V. Miami, and I'm sure Richt realizes that. NC has excellent CB's, Brad kaaya is a great passing QB. We'll see.

The craziest part is that downtown Atlanta is probably 6 times farther away from my house than downtown Athens, and I'd probably still get home 10 times faster from the Georgia Dome. No shit man. Athens traffic on game day is a fucking nightmare. Even from my house on a motorcycle and parking at a friends house several blocks away from Sanford Stadium, you gotta leave 5 or 6 hours before kickiff or else you'll miss the 1st quarter and part of the second. Parking in Athens is HORRENDOUS since they've been working on the parking deck and the roads downtown. People have to park like 4 or 5 miles away and walk into downtown for the game, I shit you not. And getting OUT is even worse. It's so bad that we always walk about a mile past the house we parked at to spend the rest of the afternoon at a bar until about 10pm when traffic actually starts moving again.
