GOOD! I'm glad. The Falcons deserved NOTHING to celebrate. FUCK those assholes! Also glad it was a total ass-raping prison-shanking beatdown. Let's them walk away from this season unquestioningly knowing EXACTLY where the fuck they stood. Dunno if anyone else caught clips of the post-game press conference with coach Mike Smith, but it sounded a lot more like a final farewell than your regular old "we just lost" post-game interview. So apparently the rumors are true that Arthur Blank is gonna replace him as HC. Dunno if I agree with that move. It ain't the head coach that sucks, it's the players. Here's my breakdown of it all:
  • They have no decent #1 runningback (Steven Jackson is a joke, probably gets less YPC than Michael Turner was, and he needs to retire already). They had damn well better use their time wisely in the draft this year and get a good #1 RB. If they really wanted to make the locals across Georgia happier than shit, they'd cut Jackson and draft Todd Gurley ;D... I doubt it'll happen though. ::)
  • Their O-line is largely a bunch of pussies that can't protect Matt Ryan for shit. If they don't use their 1st pick to draft a RB, they better use it towards building a stronger pocket for their QB.
  • 90% of the starters on defense are only good enough to be 2nd and 3rd string backups in my opinion. Dunno how in the fuck they managed to completely buttfuck the defense from one of the best in the league to the absolute WORST in the league in such a short time. I suspect the DC has a lot to do with it. Hopefully if they shitcan Mike Smith, they'll have brains enough to shitcan DC Mike Nolan also. And even moreso, hopefully they'll have brains enough to shitcan GM Thomas Dimitroff. MOTHERFUCK that guy! Get him gone!
All this shit ain't gonna change overnight. Although... it sure as hell seems like it's gone from good to horrible virtually overnight. I guess it's a lot easier to fuck shit up than it is to fix it. But they damn well better do SOMETHING. They're spending obscene and ghastly amounts of the cities money building this brand new stadium that they just had to have. If they wanna make the money back and keep the franchise financially solvent, they're gonna have to produce some results to get some asses in the seats on Sundays.

I feel like Carolina could just as easily lose their first game as they could continue their small winning streak. Despite how not proud I am and how sorry the NFC south is, Carolina does have momentum, they're the best team in the division, and the first team to win the NFC south 2 seasons in a row.(as a tar heel fan, I've learned to take the glass is "half full" approach opposed to "half empty" ;) )

I think v. Arizona in charlotte will, or at least could be a gg.

I think Carolina can take Arizona, especially when Arizona is using their 3rd string QB.

After that game, it will get a lot tougher.

TB "earns" #1 pick  :lolsign:  When did sucking terribly become earning something.  :raincloud:

I was at the TB/NO game Sunday (got lower bowl 10 yd. line tickets given to me).  The 1st half I was like  :WTF:, Tampa may actually win this game.
The 2nd half, the real TB teams showed up and were totally dominated by NO.

That's what kills me about the draft. It "seems" like a great idea to increase competitiveness, but in recent years it's always been Tampa, Cleveland, Detroit, and a few others always getting first crack at the #1 overall pick.

Detroit's been smart to keep Stafford around, and he really endeared himself to the locals in his first season with them. I still remember it. Thanksgiving day, they were behind in the 4th by only one or two scores, Matt Stafford kept getting the shit drilled out of him all day and by late in the 4th he was clearly playing injured. I think it was actually a broken or fractured collar bone, but he absolutely REFUSED to leave the game. He went on to score in that drive, and they still ended up losing the game by a close margin, but he made himself look like a true hero and it left a lasting impression on EVERYONE, especially his team mates and the fans.

And other than Stafford, Detroit's gotten some lucky breaks in the drafts and done a pretty good job of slowly but surely building a great team. They still need a couple of pieces to make a truly elite top to bottom team, but they're proving that they can compete with the best of them now. If they had one more deep-threat and route-running-ninja WR about as good as Calvin Johnson on the opposite side of the field, the passing game would be nearly impossible to cover and shutdown.

And then... there's Cleveland. They've had every opportunity to improve themselves, but boneheaded decisions from the front office have seen fit to all but destroy any progress they might've made. Most notably... drafting Johnny Manziel was a fucking mistake. He was pretty good in college, but he's just not cut out for the NFL. He could be, but he's such an immature bullheaded ass that he'll never realize his true potential until something drastic happens to change his attitude. And even then, it's gonna be a struggle because of his size. If you ask me, and I've probably said this 100 times already, but they should've stuck it out with Colt McCoy.

And that's what makes me cringe about every draft time coming around. These top QB's coming out of college always go to the worst teams with the worst front offices who collectively have the worst heads for football. And then these QB's who have such potential end up failing because they have subpar teammates who drop passes, fumble, can't run fast enough, etc etc. And one or two seasons of that and then they get fired. And once you've been a starter somewhere and FAILED at it, you're looked at like you're a fucking leper.

In other news...

Dunno if anyone else caught clips of the post-game press conference with coach Mike Smith, but it sounded a lot more like a final farewell than your regular old "we just lost" post-game interview. So apparently the rumors are true that Arthur Blank is gonna replace him as HC.

And... YEP! True true. They fired Mike Smith.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/atlanta-falcons-fire-coach-mike-smith-143703793--nfl.html

Okay. I said if they were gonna fire Mike Smith, they needed to fire DC Mike Nolan too. No word about that yet, not as far as I know at least. But something tells me they won't.  :ohreally: I also said they needed to fire GM Thomas Dimitroff. I still stand by that. But I don't think that really goes far enough. Because if Arthur Blank is fucking dumb enough to "believe in his heart of hearts that Mike Smith couldn't take the Falcons to a Superbowl" and is fucking dumb enough to fire him, then Arthur Blank is just doubly fucking dumb and needs to permanently excuse himself from making any more decisions about the team in the future. :ohlord: To fire Mike Smith, who has had GREAT success at improving the Falcons lot since coming aboard 7 or 8 seasons ago,... and NOT fire DC Mike Nolan who has been responsible this past season for coaching one of the worst, if not THE worst defenses in all of NFL... that's just fucking RETARDED.

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/28/acc-off-to-rough-start-in-bowl-season-0-4-vs-power-5/

When the ACC loses to intraconference teams it's what's expected, when the ACC beats intraconference teams it's overlooked, and when the ACC loses to each other it hurts them tenfold and is logic for it's inconsistency. The last one is fine and everything but when other conferences lose within themselves it somehow means the opposite, all the while the ACC wins half of their intraconference games against 4 conferences that apparently and easily outclass them? It's retarded sometimes. I hope GA Tech thrashes MSU just as bad as Clemson did Oklahoma. Not like it would matter though.

I hope GA Tech thrashes MSU just as bad as Clemson did Oklahoma.

I don't see it happening. I always watch every single University of Georgia game start to finish, but this year I watched probably better than half of all Georgia Tech's games too. GT faced some pretty decent teams, and even managed to up-end Georgia which not many people saw coming. I'd say Georgia, Duke, and Florida State were their toughest opponents all year. Where Georgia differs from Duke and Florida State is larger body size of their O-line and D-line. Where Georgia failed against them was that Gurley was out, Nick Chubb had a piss-poor day at RB, and the passing game was pretty crappy that day too. GT's gonna have the same problems with Mississippi State that they had with Georgia, only Mississippi State has better linebackers than UGA, they're more consistent with production running the ball, and they can ALWAYS pass on you unlike Georgia.

Mississippi State's more than likely taking the Orange Bowl this year. I dunno what the vegas odds are, but I'd assume they agree with me. Not saying Georgia Tech's "assured" to lose though. Seems like HC Paul Johnson is taking advantage of his QB's ability to pass better than the other QB's he's had since his start at Tech. If they dial up more pass plays like they did against Georgia, it seems to be a better formula against top SEC opponents than his typical run-only strategy, and really it's the ONLY formula that's gonna work, especially against Mississippi State. Otherwise GT's gonna possess the ball longer and eat more clock with run plays, while Miss State's gonna hold the ball less but move it to the endzone quicker. That's always killed me about watching GT games. Their stubborn desire to only run the ball when they're behind by 2 or more scores and they always end up burning the clock out from under themselves come the 4th quarter.

Oklahoma had 4 losses coming into the Clemson game.  Oklahoma was not the usual Oklahoma.
It may have looked like a blowout, but 5 Oklahoma turnovers made it that way.
I still think Clemson would have won, but not by a big margin like it was.
Clemson improved as the year went on, their young QB got better as he got more snaps.

GT probably has the best team they have had in years, they do have a passing threat.
I see the GT/Miss St. game as a close one.  I think Miss St. will win but by 10 or less.

Apparently Alabama and Ohio State are really the only two playing for a national title this year. That's kinda the impression I get from watching ESPN. Ain't they gonna look stupid when... meh whatever. I just hope Urban Meyer doesn't win jack shit. Fuck that guy with a AIDS penis.

LSU got hosed by bad reffing. ::)

Seeding for a lot of these later bowl games is a bit screwy in my opinion.

If we're going purely by current rankings heading into bowl season, I think #13 Georgia should've probably been seeded with #10 Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl. It probably could've been #13 vs #12, but #12 is Georgia Tech, and Georgia already played them, so I understand why they wouldn't want to put the same 2 together again.

#23 LSU should've been paired up with #25 Minnesota.

#19 Auburn vs #18 Wisconsin should be a really great game, BUT... probably would've made more sense to stick #19 Auburn with #20 Boise State, and #18 Wisconsin with #17 Clemson.

Missouri should've gotten Arizona State.

I dunno, if I started listing EVERYTHING, it would probably screw up somewhere along the way and someone would end up getting seeded with someone they already played, someone in their conference, or someone ranked too far away from them. But it probably wouldn't end up TOO screwed up, maybe one or two games would be "improper" and need adjusting. I have NO CLUE how exactly they figure up the seeding. It would be interesting to know if there's some formulaic system for it or if it's just a couple fat guys sitting in a room drinking beer and throwing darts at a bunch of names taped to the wall.

I agree with some of what you are saying about the pairings.  Another big factor the bowls take into consideration when they pick their matchups are where the teams are from and how many fans a certain team may bring to their bowl.  In the end it is all about the money like many other things.

I think Oregon is the team to watchout for.  Quite a few people are going to look foolish if Oregon takes it all.
Urban Meyer and Ohio St. should not be in the playoff IMO, I think TCU was a better choice.
If TCU wins big today against Ole Miss that will prove my point even more.  The real problem is, my opinion don't matter  :ohlord:

If TCU wins big today against Ole Miss that will prove my point even more.

DAYAM! TCU is absolutely BUTTFUCKING Ole Miss. This shit is UGLY! :D

edit: It just gets worse and worse, hahaha! Bo Wallace, instead of taking a sack in his own endzone for a 2pt safety... he flings it away for a PICK in the endzone and a TD for TCU. Facepalm much? Haha! :D

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
