Not really. As of this moment, Miss State is undefeated, but could easily join Alabama and Ole Miss as 1-loss teams. That leaves the SEC West spot in the SEC Championship as a bit of headscratcher if it happens. But if Bama continues winning, its possible they could be the ONLY SEC team in the playoffs. Shits so close on both sides of the SEC that the in-conference competitiveness could end up blowing the SEC completely out of the playoff picture if things unfold just right. Which is fucked up. If a 2-loss team from the East wins the SEC championship... that's it, game over for the SEC.

And before I get shit for it, yeah yeah yeah, Georgia lost. I kinda figured they would. What most people might not realize is that Georgia is a bigger party school than you think. Last night being Halloween, they were all probably drinking a little. Definitely wasn't the same Dawgs I saw 2 weeks ago. They were hoping to have Gurley back by now, too. Turns out he fessed up to receiving more than $1000, so it's a mandatory 4-game suspension, not 2. ::) They'll probably lose to Kentucky next week too unless they pull their heads outta their asses and start dialing up more longer pass plays like they FINALLY starting doing in the 4th against Florida... when it was too late to really make a difference. And even if they beat Kentucky, will they beat Auburn even with Gurley finally back? They couldn't beat South Carolina even before Gurley was suspended, so... Auburn's gonna win.

Golden opportunity, Florida. It's all you. Try not to blow it. :)

I was surprised to see FLA beat GA.  I put that loss on the GA coaching staff.  GA should have put 8 or 9 in the box and forced FLA's QB to beat them.  The FLA QB only threw the ball 6 times, completing 3 of them for 27 yards.
GA's offense has had success running the ball, but that is FLA's defensive strength.  FLA has a good defense, but their weakness is against the pass.
The only good DB they have is Hargraves, the other DB's and Safeties have been beaten repeatedly this year.  I know GA doesn't have elite receivers this year, but I think they would have still had success against the FLA secondary.
The SEC east is down this year, but I still think GA is the best team in that division.
The best FLA can do is 5-3,  GA would have to lose another game (Kentucky, Auburn) and Missou would have to lose 2 more (Texas A&M, Tenn, and Ark).  I can see GA losing to Auburn, but I don't see Missou losing 2 more games.

I hated to see Ole Miss lose to Auburn, They were down close to scoring the go ahead TD twice late in the game only to fumble the ball away.
The last time the Ole Miss receiver Treadwell (this guy was a beast and only a sophmore) fumbled just outside of the endzone, the ball was recovered by Auburn in the endzone for a touchback.  Treadwell was injured on the play and had to be taken off on a cart.

Ole Miss and GA are now out of the playoff hunt.  Miss St., Alabama, and Auburn are still in the hunt.
Miss St. still plays Vandy at home and plays Alabama and Ole Miss on the road.
Alabama still plays at LSU and plays Miss St, Auburn at home.
Auburn Still play Texas A&M at home and plays GA and Alabama on the road.

I'm not sure if a 2 loss SEC team would make the playoff.  I believe a 2 loss SEC team is better than a 1 loss Notre Dame team that barely beat Navy   :raincloud:

This is what's so awesome about the SEC this year. Damn near everybody (except Vanderbilt) is good enough to beat anybody else. Missouri ain't guaranteed shit. I think Kenny Hill was suspended for something, but even so, Texas A&M still has a decent backup QB. Tennessee doesn't completely suck this year like they have in years past. And Arkansas is just really unlucky to the point where it seems like God fucking hates them and they're cursed. They've given everyone they've faced in the SEC a real fight and always come up short, but eventually they're gonna start winning these things. Maybe Missouri will be their first SEC win. If I was putting money on that game, I'd put my money on Arkansas, not Missouri, but that's just me.

Florida benefited greatly from Georgia's complete lack of defense. And if you wonder why they refused to cram 8 or 9 defenders on the line and plug every gap, it's because the minute they would've done that, Florida would've called off the run for a pass play, and burned the shit outta Georgia passing it. It's like watching the Falcons play college football. The first defender that gets to the receiver NEVER wraps up and tackles, it's always the 2nd or 3rd guy that comes in for the assist that ends it. And like I said, they were probably all drinking their balls off Halloween night, because EVERYONE looked slow and sluggish, more than normal.

Georgia actually does have a couple of elite receivers. Malcolm Mitchell, Conley and Scott-Wesley, probably in that order. Malcolm Mitchell is a good route runner as well as a go-route deep threat, and Conley and Scott-Wesley are both deep threats too. Problem is that Hutson Mason has NO arm to speak of. Even his short passes tend to be crappy. But he can't throw a ball long enough to cause any defense to worry about deep passes, and his intermediate throws are kinda rare because he floats passes too slow at that distance instead of zipping it like a bullet, and short passes.... who gives a shit, it's not gonna win games. Clearly.

So until Mason is finally GONE, Georgia is basically a one-hit wonder with only a run game. And even next year when (I'm assuming) Brice Ramsey steps into the starting QB role, Georgia's probably gonna be pretty screwed. He's accurate enough, and he has the arm for deep passes, but his pocket awareness is HORRIBLE. He's gonna be sacked and stripped like crazy unless he works on that.

Was watching the Ole Miss Auburn game. Reeeeeeeeeally sucks the way that ended for Ole Miss. Treadwell is pretty obviously a one-of-a-kind receiver destined for the NFL, but who knows now with that kind of break. They said it was a fractured ankle, but it almost looked to me like his shin might've twisted and snapped just below the knee. That shit had to hurt like fuck.

Also, I got in on a bet where we all wrote down which 4 teams will be in the play-offs, and I went with 1. Florida state,  2. Alabama,  3. Oregon, 4. Notre dame

Blasphemy!             :rocketleft:

Predicting with my head and not my heart, I have to say you are probably right.  Ole Miss has lost too many key players and will have too many losses to make the playoff. MS State will get beat twice....especially if they have only one loss going into Oxford. That game will be Ole Miss's super-spoil bowl game and they will be playing on emotion, with back ups that have had a few games under their belt by that time. The committee will want national representation and with all the SEC teams jumbled up, Alabama will probably be the one SEC team selected because of their history and because they are a really good team. Then again, Auburn will have something to say about that.   ;D

Mizzou ain't Looking too hot to me, and Arkansas has been through some battles. I'd go with them too. The 4. Spot is tough. My head is telling me Notre dame SORT OF. I actually think(hope) TCU can finish strong and steal it. Maybe k-state. If one of these teams finishes undefeated and wins the big 12, and some sec teams lose, who knows.

Nah, Pats won it. I don't see Brady getting up 20 points on someone and then laying down for a curbing.

The win is gonna cost him a Gronk, though. Unless Christ Jesus comes down in his space ship and heals him in person, Gronkowski's fuckin' done for the year. You see that hit to his knee? YOWZAH!!! Just watching that hit makes MY knee hurt.

If this weekend's taught anyone anything, it's that football is not a "safe" sport. Especially if you play for Utah. Saw a WR for Utah in the Utah-UCLA game get shoulder checked right to the side of the head and no one flagged it for targeting.  :ohlord: Dude was laying there a good minute after the hit with tweety birds circling his skull. Refs in that game just didn't seem to give a shit about it, because it happened more than once.

I didn't watch it but the only bet I made tonight was a parlay of st Louis winning, Denver winning, and it being a high scoring game. After doing so I realize that it's a home game for NE and cold as shit. Brady thrives in the snow, and it's the complete opposite with Peyton. It was 50 to win 800, if I were to have picked NE(I would have if I hadn't done it so fast at work probably) it would have been 50 to win $1,300 probably.

I'm really debating whether I think FL state will lose or not. Their last 4 games are Miami, Boston college, and Florida. All 3 can beat them, even though FL state is obviously favored. Miami is playing very well right now, BC is strong where fl state is weak(run v run D) not to mention auburn and bc gave FL state their toughest, closest games last year, and Florida's doing ok plus it's a rivalry game. Then it's a rematch with Miami in the acc championship.

I'm most interested in the match against Miami in 2 weeks.

By the way, y'all may have guessed but all I do is post from my phone these days, so I'll word things different and not care about sentence structure or anything.

Marcus Lattimore retires from NFL at 23 yrs old.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11827168/marcus-lattimore-san-francisco-49ers-retires-nfl

It is a real shame, this guy had the skills to be a star in the NFL but repeated knee injuries cost him that chance (he never played a NFL game)  :raincloud:

He may be able to collect on a 1.7 million dollar insurance policy he took out his Junior year of college.  The money is nice, but if he could I bet he would rather be playing in the NFL.

Shiiiiiiiiiiit. 1.7mil is nice? To you or me, sure. To him, it ain't jack shit compared to the couple million PER YEAR he probably would've been making in the NFL.

I was reading the article about it on Yahoo earlier, and was pretty astounded to read the words that the particular author of the article wrote. Fucking IDIOT, this author, whoever he was. Suggesting it's stupid that the NFL places restrictions on athletes to be out of high school for at least 3 years before they're eligible for the NFL. Suggesting that it's stupid for the NFL to try to protect the rosters of the college teams by forcing potential draftees to stay in college for at least 3 years. Suggesting that if Lattimore had been allowed to be drafted into the NFL after only 2 years of college instead of 3, he could've avoiding becoming victim to a career ending knee injury.

WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!

Like even WORSE couldn't have happened to him in the NFL where EVERYONE is a faster runner, harder hitter, and surer tackler. These fuckin' "journalists", man. Pffft. You can debate these fucking hypothetical what-if's until the sun explodes and time ends, but it'll never change the fact that it's obviously much more dangerous for a person to play the runningback position at the NFL level than at the college level. So he's an unfortunate casualty of a horrible college football injury. He's just one of many, so really.... SO WHAT? It's a dangerous, physical, high-impact, rough game no matter how many pads you wear. Shit happens. Everyone who plays the game knows it's risky. Deal with it or quit.

It is a shame, him and gio we're definitely the two best backs of that class, although it took a little while for gio to get noticed, halfway due to an easier schedule at UNC . Always wanted to see how they'd size up to each other in the nfl.

I haven't seen many runningbacks in the NFL in recent years who were getting all that much production. Adrian Peterson was breaking some decent runs, obviously. But I guess teams have gotten so damned good at defending against runningbacks, no matter WHO they are, that very few of them have been able to wow anyone.

This is kinda why I actually enjoy college football a lot more than professional. The truly outstanding players at the college level just stand out so much more, especially the runningbacks and quarterbacks (as long as they have competent receivers). Todd Gurley is supposed to leave Georgia to hit the NFL draft this next year, and it'll be pretty interesting to see what he does in the NFL, but I suspect he won't have quite the same success breaking tackles and screaming down the field on long runs like he has in college.
