my thoughts on the current rankings for the playoff...

currently: 1) bama 2) oregon 3) tcu 4) fsu 5) osu 6) baylor


...bama #1 ..ok yea I get it..people like the sec

same for oregon..espn's westcoast love child..

but for tcu to be 3 over baylor with a head to head loss is fucking retarded, I don't give a fuck how bad baylor's defense is, or how bad their qb's concussion is..they earned their spot. The whole discussion of who has the better loss determining that ranking is beyond my understanding of how teams should be ranked.

now..fsu at 4..undefeated defending national champs..criminally low, in my opinion..I don't care how to you feel about rapeis winston..or how they have struggled through all of their games, at the end of the day the team won. Regardless of how you think the acc stacks up against other conferences if fsu beats ga tech and doesn't move up or drops, this system has to go..

I predict one of these two will occur.

1) Winston is cleared of all wrongdoing.

2) If Winston is not cleared, it will be appealed and the final decision will not happen until after the national championship is over.

I do not know much about McElwain so I am not sure about how good of a selection this is.
McElwain was the offensive coordinator for Alabama when they won the national championship.

It is going to be interesting who the 4 playoff teams are going to be and where they are seeded.
A couple of teams are going to get left out who feel they should be in.

I think Alabama, Oregon, and FLA St. are definitely in.  FLA St. is the weakest, but they are undefeated so they will get in.
Either TCU, Baylor, or Ohio St. will make up the last team in the playoff. 
I have been down on Ohio St., but after the pushed Wisconsin's stool in yesterday, I have more respect for them now.

I would hate to have the selection committee's job. 
I think TCU is the best team, but Baylor beat TCU 61-58 at Baylor.  Ohio St. won a conference championship impressively.
The Big 12 does not have a championship game, if they did TCU and Baylor would play again since they both have 8-1 records in conference.

I think Ohio St. will get the 4th spot since they won big and they are a conference champion.

Oregon may be the best team, but I am still skeptical about their level of competition compared to the SEC.

Alabama & Oregon are the top two seeds, I do not know which order they will place them.

FLA St. is going to have to play the best team they have played all year, no matter who they play (Alabama or Oregon).
We will see if FLA St. was worthy real fast, they might surprise me.  They might just play to the level of competition they are playing each week.

The scenario I was hoping for was that Alabama and Oregon would have to play each other in one bowl playoff, and Florida State would take someone else in the other. Then hopefully Alabama and Florida State would win and face one another for the National Title, mostly because I wanted to see Alabama beat BOTH Oregon and Florida State. Cuz not only would it be great to see PAC12 princesses Oregon get definitively beaten by the SEC once and for all, but if Alabama could actually beat Oregon AND Florida State, then I'd finally be a true believer that they deserve the ranking they've been gerrymandered as well as the title.

Buuuuuuuuuuut that's not gonna happen more than likely. More than likely the two southerners Alabama and Florida State are gonna get paired up together in the Sugar Bowl, while Oregon and a whoever else (probably Ohio State) gets sent to the Rose Bowl like always.

Just seems crazy to me that both Ole Miss and Mississippi State have managed to completely remove themselves from the picture. Really inconsistent play across the board this year. Texas A&M started the year off making people think they were fucking invincible gods, and then promptly fell on their faces in about the 2nd or 3rd game of the season. Same kinda shit for Miss State and Ole Miss. They've looked stellar at times, and at others they've looked pretty pathetic.

So far, this playoff thing fucking SUCKS. The BCS system was flawed too, but at least it was a little more straightforward in HOW it was flawed. If anything, the playoffs should be expanded to 8 teams in 4 bowl/semi-final games, then 2 completely new playoff finals, and then a National Title game.

Ole Miss had season ending injuries to a bunch of key players...yes, I know everyone deals with this , but these were players that made them nationally respected.....especially on defense. Bo Wallace could be brilliant with his passes or wtf? Too inconsistent.

MS St. had a really good squad but I think all the #1 talk and playoff implications took its toll. Neither Ole Miss or MS State have been considered viable National Champ-type teams for a loooong time. We enjoyed it while it lasted and I look forward to seeing what they do in the bowl games.  Meanwhile, there is always next year. 

I'll save my playoff comments until the official list comes out.

The playoffs are set

Alabama will play Ohio St. in the Sugar Bowl.

Oregon will play FLA St. in the Rose Bowl.

Both games will be on New Years Day.

The championship game will be played on Jan 12th. at AT&T stadium in Arlington, TX.

Yeah, not really. Honestly, they should all grow the fuck up and act like "professionals". But I guess when they've been handed everything and had their asses licked ever since they started getting recruitment letters in high school, it's probably helped to warp their sense of reality a bit. Cam Newton... sure, he's a fine quarterback, but he needs to tone it the fuck down with the Superman endzone dance bullshit. Especially when gets right up in an opponents face and does it while talking some hefty shit to them, which can clearly be seen in the replay. If there was some way to read his lips and see exactly what he said to him,... he wasn't entirely the victim of a Saints team just being sore losers. He was poking a stick at a bees nest and the inevitable happened. He's as much at fault, if not MORE SO, than anyone else.
