servers don't need a periodic reboot

and restarting the q2 ded server != reboot, only would take a few seconds to restart the quake2 ded server process

doesn't need it though, the server is running fine without issues... and so is the immediately surrounding network infrastructure

your problem is going to be either with your computer, your ISP, or an exchange point where your ISP switches off to another ISP

most likely your ISP very common problem for an ISP to oversell their network too much, and when everyone decides they want to torrent porn at the same time, it falls apart... could also be modem problems though, as I have seen problems with cheap ones getting flooded with too many small packets and causing CPU wait time for the hardware which can back log all traffic and cause really weird and terrible connection shit to happen

Actually I have now determined that the problem is when the q2 server is full with players (not just night).  If the server has 8 players or less, usually no problem.  More than 8 players, than it lags etc.  So it may very well be tastyspleen server related.  Again -- what's the big deal about trying a reboot?  People act like its asking for a UN resolution.   I say try it -- it can't hurt.  And I certainly can't change Verizon fios or level 3 routing.   I can ask for a server to be rebooted. 

Just reboot it already.  jeez.

Also, what is your estimate of how long the server has been running?

Q2servers.com shows that WallFly[BZZZ] has been on for 241 hours (10+ days) so I take it that is when the server was rebooted last.
Another thing you could try is make use of r1q2's cl_async 1, which I usually do when a server gets fuller. Disabling dynamic lighting and other visual fx won't reduce connection lag but it can help local performance on certain video cards/chips.

It Is well known that reboots clear out memory clear hung processes and refresh many parameters.    It can't hurt right?    It is the server maybe.    It is not definitely me.   No one knows for sure.    So I say try a reboot.  What's the big deal?

No net graph with q2pro.   I posted tr routes.  Regardless all servers perform better after reboots.

like ely said, post your netgraph... if your connection is just cutting out all the time its more than likely ur isp.
