Did anyone else see the season opener?

It was epic and ballsy, i cannot wait to see how this season all plays itself out. I wont spoil it, but AMC is allowing people to watch it for free on their site!

Didn't see the season opener yet. Just started watching the show today actually. So I showed up to the party about 5 years late,... fuck it, I still made it didn't I?

Dunno why I never watched this show before. I guess I just figured it would be kinda hokey and stupid. And really... it is. Zombie shit is dumb when you get right down to it. It's very simple and done to death and unoriginal. But it's a fun kinda dumb usually, I like gore and horror shit, so whatever. I'm sure I've seen every George Romero zombie movie ever made, not to mention the remakes. Dawn of the Dead with Sarah Polley and Ving Rhames was the FUCKING SHIT,... but most of the others were kinda dumb. I guess I just figured Walking Dead would be pretty much more of the same old crap, so no reason to go out of my way to watch it.

And I kinda thought the same thing about Breaking Bad too. I didn't get into that one until just before the last season of it started. I always thought... "A show about some chemistry teacher that starts making crystal meth? Pfft, how good can it possibly be? I've got better shit to do." Then one day I finally heard, "You gotta see this!" one too many times, and actually gave the show a shot. And it was surprising how damn good it was. AMC knows how to make a good show apparently.

I figured the same thing about Walking Dead. It wouldn't be anything special. But I finally gave it a shot. And it's actually... pretty good. The first episode is excellent. Only watched up to episode 3 of season 1 so far. Episode 2 and 3 aren't quite as good as episode 1, but fuck it. They got me hooked now. No choice but to watch the rest of it.

Anyone else thinking like me that this show might not be something you'd be interested in... suspend judgement long enough to watch the first episode. You'll probably change your mind. This ain't your typical 80's hokey drive-in zombie shit starring everybody's favorite midget Phil Fondacaro. It's actually watchable.

Heh you're going to need to cram in a week long marathon session to catch up. (that's what  i did with breaking bad on netflix, when i had time on my hands.) Usually AMC runs season marathons quite regularly. The quickest way to watch is netflix for obvious reasons. But if you somehow don't sub to it, there's always free on demand for some episodes on cable depending on service.  You'll like season 3.

Nah, I just pirated the shit up to season 4. Also got the mini webisodes. Basically any show I actually like enough to keep up with, I end up downloading it and keeping it on file in my videos folder. Most of the time I never watch any of my shows on TV when they premiere, I end up downloading them the next morning and watching them on the computer.

Kinda pisses me off that I spent 100 bucks on a DVD of all 7 seasons of Tales From The Crypt lately. The DVD extras weren't really anything interesting, and then I come to find out that not only could I have downloaded all 7 seasons on PirateBay, I could've also just watched every episode on YouTube, because apparently a few people have uploaded every last damn episode complete with F-bombs and titties and no logging in for age restricted shit. Would've been just as good to hook up my Wii to a TV, hop on the Wii's YouTube app, and streamed every episode I wanted to see for free. Oh well, it's only money.

OK I can't resist. Like Foc for a long time i felt the same. But I got hooked about the end of season 2, in fact i have never seen season 1. But I make plans around the Walking Dead now. watched as much of the marathon as i could before the season 5 premiere.
BUT as much as i love it, i love these just as much.

On a serious note though. Without giving any spoilers to those that have not seen season 4 and to those that have and know what i'm refering to: That 5 second deer scene at the end of one of the episodes in season 4 is why the Walking dead is so popular. The writers thought to add that one last 5 second scene with the deer. It pulled alot of emotions out of the viewer and allowed the audience to feel the same exact emotions that carol fealt at that exact moment. It was probably the most powerful 5 seconds i've seen in any episode thus far. For the writers to realize that and to include that in is why this show is so popular and successful.

When the Hill Billy genius with a cure talked about the cure, I was kind of left confused. He mentioned fighting fire with fire and described killing all the zombies rather than returning them to their former state? Did anyone else catch that? I always thought a cure meant reviving the zombies as will smith figured out in "I am Legend..."

So far I've gotten through season 1, season 2 "Torn Apart" webisodes, and season 2. The season 2 webisodes were pretty much a waste of time. If it was stuff they originally filmed and tossed out of the season 1 pilot episode, it was for the best. The acting was horrible. The parts of the story it told were completely unnecessary. Anyone who didn't see it isn't missing anything at all.

Season 1 was pretty damn good. Season 2 was also pretty good, but not as good as season 1 in my opinion. Most shows I've ever watched, season 1 always tends to be the best season, while season 2 a lot of the time tends to be the weakest point of any shows writing. Case in point - The whole search for Sophia thing was just... really kinda dumb in my opinion. Reminds me a helluva lot of what happened in Sons of Anarchy in season 2 when they spend the majority of that season in Ireland looking for Jax's kidnapped baby boy. Just not a good plot line in my opinion, especially when it's been done to death by countless other shows. Not to put any spoilers out there, but what happens when they finally find Sophia... well that kinda makes up for the unoriginal plot. And thankfully that moment fell into the middle of the season and they didn't continue to drag it out until the last episode like most shows would do.

I concur. Episode 2 ends pretty interestingly. Adds more questions than answers, which is sometimes good.

Also, to add to what Folc posted above, the 2nd half of S5 of Breaking Bad was the best television I have ever seen. I liked most of BB, but I couldn't understand all the hype. I mean, it was good, but it wasn't that good. But that 2nd half of S5 was mind blowing. So damn good that it more than makes up for any slow parts in the first 4.5 seasons.

Finally worked my way to that episode. Yeah. That whole episode's pretty fucked up. This show couldn't have been broadcast on tv probably 15 years ago. All the rampant violence in it... sure, it's killing zombies, but it's still very graphic. Graphic enough that if it were a movie made in 1995 even without any nudity or sex or cussing, it would garner an R rating on the violence alone. But even if you took out 90% of the graphic violence, particularly whenever Michone slices a zombies head in half,... if you had a show back then where an adult fucking EXECUTED a young girl with a revolver... HA! Nah, there's NO WAY the censors would've allowed that shit to get on TV.

Call me a calloused asshole, but I didn't really feel all that sad from that episode like I was probably supposed to. The episode where Lori died and Judith was born was sadder in my opinion. More or less I found myself actually glad that she executed that little cunt. I got the feeling that eventually that little idiot was gonna kill someone, especially after almost smothering the baby. Furthermore, the story doesn't explicitly say it, at least not up to the point where I'm at (just finished s04e14), but I guess it's safe to assume that when that little bitch was feeding rats to the walkers it created an infectious strain of something that spread from the walkers to the survivors. Don't guess it really matters anymore though, the psycho kid is dead, they're outta the prison, those parts of the story are no longer essential, so I doubt the story will reveal what exactly happened. Still, that's just my theory, and for all the combined shit that little cunt was doing, she was a big liability and I was hoping sooner than later she'd be the next in line to get whacked off the show. I approve of killing children for once.

I still say Breaking Bad was much better than this show. It was far more original. Walking Dead season 4 episode 14 says it all about originality. A slight but very noticeable plagiarization of "Of Mice And Men." Breaking Bad was just far better written. That's part of the problem you have when you have a SHITLOAD of characters like on Walking Dead. It becomes harder and harder to give each one of them a distinct personality with believable dialogue. And then some of them have personalities SO distinct that they become parodies of themselves episode after episode. Like Dale for example. Remember him? Mister semi-profoundly philosophical, mister voice-of-reason, mister mediator, etc etc. His character got to be boring and old fairly quickly. Glad he got whacked out.

at 32:30, Rick reveals that the entire world is infected with the virus and that everyone carries it, and also that everyone will turn eventually after death.

With this knowledge, I am thinking that the Hill Billy Genius may not realize that everyone is infected, and that things could take a severe twist if they ever reach Washington DC. If everyone carries the virus, whatever formula this hill billy genius is thinking of unleashing would kill not only the walkers, but everyone still alive and unturned as well...

Did anyone else catch or think of this? let me know
