I am surprised that Rick's crew cannot figure out a way to gather seeds and build a suitable amount of crop.

I really want there to be some sort of major cliffhanging surprise to the show, something new to advance the over all plot. Perhaps finally going to washington dc, or going on a road trip to new york. I dont know, something different, they can take this show in any direction.

This show is pretty bad. I can't really blame the people involved with the show itself for how mediocre the show is. I've had the chance to play through the Walking Dead Season One game on XB1, which is pretty much entirely based on the actual comic series, and apparently even the comic is written with unremarkable injections of "over-drama". But still, as bad as a lot of the acting and casting and dialogue is on the show, it's still one of the more interesting shows on TV simply because the subject matter is something other than a fucking cop show or a sitcom about a family. Dunno why you're so overly nuts about this show. Honestly, there's better shit on TV to be crazy about. Three words: Better Call Saul. But to spoil shit for you (I think, not 100% on this), Rick will never die, neither will Glenn or Michone. Those are 3 characters you can sleep pretty easy knowing you'll always see on the next episode. There's apparently other main characters from the story that they completely omitted from the show, probably because they're so pathetically cliche to zombie movies that their inclusion would've wrecked the viewers perception of the show.

Me and some guys from my GTA Online crew have a pool going to guess which one of the group catches the beating.

A couple of guys think it's gonna be Glenn that gets whacked because they say Glenn was the one who got killed by Neegan in the comics.

One guy seems think it could be Daryl because he says Norman Reedus has another show coming soon that will probably conflict with any Walking Dead filming schedule. He also says Reedus has some kind of contract dispute or issue with the Walking Dead show too.

I personally think it's gonna be Eugene. At the very end when Neegan was walking down the line pointing the bat at their faces, Eugene was the only one they didn't show right at the end of that portion of the scene. And then there was also that emo little scene with Eugene and Abraham where Eugene gave him the bullet making instructions and Abraham gave him a bro-love pep talk for manning up and going solo in the RV to fool Neegan's soldiers. Seems like they wanted to highlight how Eugene had finally grown the balls to become a true survivor... which'll make it all the more sad if they kill him immediately. And since this show has a solid history of using such cheap emo gimmicks for ratings and buzz... it makes sense that they'd play it that way.

Dunno if it matters at all to the TV version, but in the original comic, Glen was the one beaten to smithereens by Negan.  Would be kinda odd if they didn't keep to this story, because Glen dying is a major plot point, because at this point Maggie is pregnant with their child and therefore Glen dying wouldn't be in complete vain.

Then again, the TV show has a lot of things different than the original comic, like Sophie (Carol's daughter) is still alive and is Carl's girlfriend.  Also, Carol committed suicide early on in the comic (would have been in Season 2 if the show had kept to the original story).  Plus the characters of Daryl and Merle..?  These were completely new characters with no counterparts in the comic.

It seems this show takes the base idea of the original comic, but it is its own entity aside from the original story.  The story is similar, the flow is the same, but the characters and events are scattered and wildly different.

Now if I am to base what I think of this show based on continuity, then it fails due to being vastly different than the comic.  However, judging based on making it into its own being with an independent story?  I'd say I give the entire show about a 8.5.  Pretty good, but not the best.  As Foc said, however, still a helluva lot better than the garbage that is barfed on other TV networks.

BTW, I don't have cable so I haven't seen the premiere, so if it sounds like I haven't seen the new episode, that's why.  But I just read the reviews online... looks like he did bite the bat.  TBH, I'm still stuck near the first part of Season 6 on Netflix.  Cord cutters ftw.  :>

I kind of intentionally didn't watch any of the second segment of Season 8 so that I could wait and binge watch the entire 8 episodes at once. I want my Wednesday back.

Anybody else getting tired of this show yet? I kinda am. The season 8 finale was pretty bad. Highly highly predictable, and I had it guessed correctly 2 or 3 episodes before episode S08E16. This shit just moves SOOOOO slow. And from reading it's wiki page, the producers of the show have no intention of spotting an ending for themselves any time soon. They seem to have every intention of running the show another 10 seasons or more.

This season was one of the most dragged out repetitive storylines that I can remember. Every week it felt like the story was going no where. The fact that they are keeping negan alive is very interesting. I am tied to this show because of Rick's journey. He is the fucking man, and although the show turned him into a villainous liar time after time, the show truly revolves around him. He walks the fine line better than any other character.

The audience knows Rick is a good man, that there is hope within him, and his will to push forward and succeed is what keeps me coming back to watch him.

His speeches about life and about the direction of the group are inspiring, and at the end of the day, no matter what happens, no matter how hard he tries to deflect leadership at times, he is true leader, the big boss, and i love it.

The show needs to evolve from what seems to be a gangwar philosophy. Back in season 2, when they were on the run, and they ran into the CDC scientist, it got really very interesting. When the season ended and the camera panned out into a view of the white house, I was super excited to see if they could make their way there and possibly investigate the origins of the virus. Since then, the show has deviated into a repeat for 6 seasons, and i hope season 9 really shifts in some way.

The fact that the helicopter was shown flying over the garbage people's home base was a positive sign that there is something out there to look forward to. The season finale with the ocean of walkers over the horizon coming was also very interesting.

I really do not like the split that the show is entering in to with regards to maggie jesus and daryl. Why they need to oppose rick and michonne is beyond me. There has been enough drama from within the group, and i feel  the show needs to find new avenues. Maggie being a villain doesnt strike me as interesting. She is not a leader no matter how hard they push her down our throats.

Ill keep watching this show no matter how many seasons it ends up lasting so long as Rick is around. The positives this season about equaled the negatives.

I was happy glenn died, i was happy to see eugene's character evolved. It was good seeing Rick dragged up and down the emotional spectrum. It was really good to see the garbage people die LOL, it was good seeing michonnes roll slow down, and it was good to see Negan live at the end of the season.

I didnt like carl dying, but i guess for the show to get the lift and the direction that it's taking it makes sense. I didn't like maggie in leadership, and i didnt enjoy listening to simon's long ass sarcastic smart ass comments. If they would have dumbed his ass down a level his character would have been better.

The virgin girl group was eh, and Eziekiel the king was just a wtf character. Gabriel's character is getting more interesting every season, while daryl's is stalling. 

Lastly, as a side note, Morgan is a fucking lunatic son of a bitch LOL and i love his character just as much as i love rick's. The fact that those two have survived and continue to thrive is awesome.

The previous several seasons stories were "The Survivors at war with {insert other group name}". From what we saw at the conclusion of Season 8, they seem to be getting even MORE unimaginative by setting up Season 9's story to be "The Survivors: Civil War", wank wank wank. Technically that'll be a "new" element introduced... sort of... but it's wholly unoriginal and not very interesting. New characters won't be introduced from that, it'll just use the old ones. A new setting won't be necessary either. Fucking SNOOZE. I might bring myself to watch the first portion of Season 9 if comes around Halloween as usual, but if shit goes exactly as I have predicted, that'll be the LAST season I watch.

Then again... maybe it won't go exactly that way. From what I've heard, Lauren Cohan was having contract renewal issues, and will only have very small parts in the upcoming season. How they showed Maggie in the chair kinda smacks of The Godfather, like she's gonna be the leader of this group hellbent on going through Rick to finish Neegan. If she's not gonna be around, I don't see how that can really play out... unless they kill her.

Even the greatest shows need to be able to cut themselves off when its time for it. The Sopranos ran for 6 seasons (really 7 seasons since the last season was in 2 parts over 2 years). Breaking Bad ran for 5 seasons (really 6, because again, the last season was 2 parts over 2 years). Whoever is driving the bus obviously has plans to wring as much money and mileage out of the show as they can. Problem is they're going to whore it out and recycle the dramatic hooks until it gives people a negative impression of the show overall, even when the earlier seasons were actually pretty good on their own.
