Braves trade outfielder Jordan Schafer and 3 minor league pitchers to Houston for outfielder Michael Bourn.
Bourn is hitting over .300 and is leading the majors in stolen bases, he is also a great defensive player, he has won the gold glove twice.
They say the pitchers the Braves gave up were not their top prospects. If Bourn keeps up those numbers, it might be a good deal for the Braves.
I don't know what his contract situation is thou.

Another dumb move by another dumb Atlanta sports franchise. I figured that would happen. Didn't see him in the game or on the bench today with the no-waiver trade deadline mere minutes away. He hasn't been hitting like he was when he was first called up from Gwinnett. Just a STOOPID trade in my opinion. They possibly fuck over the franchises success in the future for a half assed attempt at keeping their batting order at anything over .100 in the now. You know, sometimes it just ain't your year. Sometimes you are plagued with injuries. Sometimes the stars align and everything happens like destiny. Forcing the stars to align never works.

Nah, I been watching a few of the Braves games but not with much enthusiasm. They've pretty much lost the ability to get any runs now. The few batters they have that actually hit are followed in the lineup by people like Alex Gonzalez who can't get a base hit to save their life. Basically all they have is Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward, and Dan Uggla, and they never get hits all in the same inning to actually score any runs. They keep games close sometimes with their good pitching and defense, but all the defense in the world isn't going to get runs and win the game. Hell, yesterday Tommy Hanson actually lost a game. First game he's lost all year I think, and it was to the Marlins. That's kinda bad. If Atlanta can't get everyone back and healthy before they start going up against the league leaders in the schedule, they're gonna fall flat on their face and OUT of the wild card race.
I'm thinking this might be Chipper Jones' last year. I don't expect his knee/leg injuries to go away. They've been using him as a pinch hitter here and there just hoping he can knock one out of the park because he sure as hell can't sprint around the bases since he got that cortisone shot. Also, he's been with Atlanta since the early 90's I think, it's probably getting to be about time for him to retire and play golf, drink, or hunt deer full time.

Yeah, Uggla's still batting pretty good. He's currently on a 24 or 25 game hitting streak. Currently the 3rd or 4th longest hitting streak in Braves franchise history. Pretty crazy considering the way he started off the season. He hit a 3 run homer today to boost the Braves to 6-0 over the Nationals, although starting pitcher Brandon Beachy fell apart in the bottom of the 6th inning.
Started it off by walking the leadoff man, then the next guy got a hit. Then he throws a horrible sinker that hits the dirt before crossing the plate and bounces away behind the catcher to allow the man on 3rd to score. Then he throws ANOTHER shitty sinker in the dirt and away from the catcher for yet another run from 3rd to come across. Yeah, NO outs at that point, not ONE. Then while one runner is on base (still NO OUTS), he works his way to a 3-2 count and tosses the fattest beachball sized 4-seam fastball right down the middle of the strike zone and Ankiel knocks the living piss out of it for a 2 run homer and lets the Nationals right back in the game. I was screaming at the tv when he tossed that 2nd sinker in the dirt to allow the 2nd run across hoping maybe by some divine intervention Fredi Gonzalez would hear me and get off his fat ass and pull Beachy out. But hell no, like a fucking retard, he leaves him in there to let him dig the hole even deeper and allow that next 2 run homer. Then after the damage had already been done, he finally gets off his fat ass and calls for a reliever to take over. Lucky for them, it started raining after the reliever worked his way to a 3-2 count on the next guy at which point he throws another ball and walks the sumbitch, so they went to a rain delay and eventually decided to call it a game. Braves win, 6 to 4. Yet another case of the Braves getting lucky.
I dunno what the fuck manager Freddi Gonzalez's problem is, but he ALWAYS does this shit. He waits until a pitcher has dug an impossible hole to pull him out. If Bobby Cox was still the skipper, this kinda shit wouldn't fly at all. I'm almost hoping the Braves lose the wild card race to help the Braves GM decide to find a new skipper next year, because this dipshit they got now is fucking clueless.

Phil's are heating up now! Atlanta is dropping back and the Giants are stumbling also. We get the Giants coming up and having lost 2 out 3 to them last time has me chomping at the bit to play them again. Looks like Oswalt will start his 1st game since coming off the dl on Sunday against Lincecum!
Its a great time to be a Philly fan!!Â

Yea, Philly is stacked.
The only hope Atlanta has is to make the wildcard and get hot in a short series.

Wow. Mets fucked up. Uggla's on a 26 game hitting streak now, longest in MLB this year. Score's 2 to1, Atlanta. Braves have a man on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs top of the 8th (1st base open), Uggla steps to the plate with 0 hits so far tonight (and a 25 game hit streak).... and they DO NOT put him on. He hits a liner out to left field and drives in the runners on 2nd and 3rd. Uh-DURRRRRRRR!!!!
Well, at least we're the not the only ones with an idiot for a manager.

Uggla's hitting streak came to an end last night. I think it was about 32 games straight, not bad for a guy who couldn't fall out of a boat and hit the water for the first part of the season.
And the Braves come-from-behind win against San Fransisco tonight in the bottom of the ninth was a thing of fucking beauty. SF closing pitcher Brian Wilson pitched like a chickenshit and ended up paying the price. Braves have 3 more games against them, and all of them need to be wins to keep the Giants behind us in the wild card race. Not much of a chance for Atlanta to catch up to Philly before the regular season is over unless the Braves get on a really hot streak and Philly gets cold.

Went to the Braves-Giants game at Turner Field tonight. Got to see last years Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum pitch. Pretty good pitcher although San Fransisco's offense couldn't seem to manufacture any runs. Atlanta wasn't doing much better offensively either. Lincecum pitched pretty well and only one was scored all game long when my man Chipper Jones blasted on a high fastball to homer it out past right field. Braves win 1-0. Helps winning 3 of the 4 from this mini-series to push San Fransisco further back in the wildcard race, especially since they have a pretty easy schedule coming up and we DON'T.
Beer wasn't too terribly high. 6 bucks for a 16oz Budweiser, Miller and other domestics. $7.50 for Heineken or whatever other import. Only smoking section allowed in the whole place is the big beer garden patio out in center field.

Posted a little thing in the NFL thread about the NFL RedZone channel free preview going on next weekend with Dish Network. Dish Network is also doing a free preview of the MLB Network all September long. Nothing but 24/7 baseball. Haven't watched too much of it yet, but I don't think they cover A, AA, and AAA minor leagues, which sucks a little bit. Mostly it's just baseball news, but sometimes they do special programs like the NFL Network does all the time, top 10 lists, shit like that. Not as much of baseball fan as I am a football fan though, so I don't really see a point in spending the extra money to get it included on my TV package.

Yeah, and they're already pre-selling post season tickets.
I've quit watching the Braves the past week or two. I've got a Braves schedule on my fridge that I put green and red X's on for wins and losses. I guess when I go to fill in all the games I've missed, I'm gonna be using a lot of red.
