Close! Actually, it's Linux Mint 13. I decided to switch not that long ago.

And now that I have Quake 2 running on Linux... I don't think I will ever have to log back into Windows again... except for maybe using iTunes :lolsign:
And when I go to the Engineering lab at my school. But that aside, my Home Desktop will be Linux all the way.
Thanks Jay! You made my life easier :D

 :ilysign:

... Also! I forgot to mention. Two years ago when I switched to the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard Layout, I found the hardest time to get support for it on r1q2. R1CH never implemented it on his client.
Sad to say, I was dual typing in Qwerty with Dvorak these last couple of years on Quake 2. However, with this aprq2 client, it supports Dvorak. Now, I can type 100+ wpm on the command line. And finally tell these annoying guys off

Although, subconsciously every time that I am playing Quake 2 and pull down the console I still by habit type in Qwerty :dohdohdoh:
Just have to train my brain for Dvorak from now on :afro:

Nice! I'm glad that it works for you  :bananaw00t:

I'm doing this 2-day, 200 mile bicycle ride in August where every penny I can raise goes directly to fund cancer treatment and research at The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. It's a very big deal to me, and I've been training for the ride since I finished the Q2W beta :)

If you're so inclined, the very best 'thank you' I could receive right now would be a sponsorship. Here's my profile page that explains my personal reasons for riding:

Cheers bud!

Before I sponsor anyone, it will have to be Quadz. Even my last 2 cents. I barely have any money right now. Which is why I ask Jay.

People on my list would be:

- Jay Dolan

- Quadz

$$$

Word!  :yessign:

The PMC is on August 3rd and 4th this year. I just put together this post yesterday which explains a promise I'm making to my sponsors if we meet my fundraising goal before the ride. There's a bunch of general information about what the ride accomplishes, too.

http://jaydolan.com/cycling/2012/2012-pan-mass-challenge/

Thank you, Escher, or anyone else here who decides to sponsor me. And feel free to share that link within your own circles, too.

I'll be playing on the DM server, and next thing I know the game quits and takes me back to my desktop.

This shows up on the terminal:

1st time
[xcb] Unknown request in queue while dequeuing
[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called
[xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
aq2: ../../src/xcb_io.c:178: dequeue_pending_request: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_unknown_req_in_deq' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

2nd time
[xcb] Unknown request in queue while dequeuing
[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called
[xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
aq2: ../../src/xcb_io.c:178: dequeue_pending_request: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_unknown_req_in_deq' failed.

And three strikes, and your outta there!

There are definitely still crashes in the game. I have not fixed them all yet. Truthfully, the AprQ2 source code is kind of a mess. That said, if you can run the game in gdb (it's a debugger), you should be able to get some more meaningful backtraces from it, and I can probably fix it from there.

To run the game in gdb, just do this at the console:

Code: [Select]
gdb ./bin/aq2
run

Once the game starts, be sure to put it in windowed mode so that you can Alt-Tab over to the console. You can then interact with gdb and get a useful backtrace by typing:

Code: [Select]
bt
And then quitting gdb and AprQ2 with Ctrl-C.

I'm tried this build on Macosx 10.6.8 (macpro ati card)
In windowed mode it works, when going full screen I only get a black screen. Sound is ok, game can start, but I see nothing, no video.
I tried multiple resolutions, same problem.

Did anyone else test this build on mac?

Does Quake2World work for you in fullscreen, or is that broken too? When you reported this in #quetoo the other day, I thought you were talking about Quake2World, not AprQ2.

I actually do all of my development on a Mac ;) I'm running Lion, tho. I wonder if there's some key difference in the compiled libSDL that I ship from my machine that makes in incompatible on Snow Leopard. I don't have access to a machine running 10.6 right now..
