Quote from: reaper
You are forgetting it's intrinsic in people to fear god to some extent.

Quote from: dahang
If they're taught about god and how he punishes, sure. But that means it's not intrinsic, because they were taught it.

People came up with the idea of god, that's why it's on the back of the dollar bill.  Reality exists for people to come up with this again and again, it's not going to be shoved under the rug.  People generally fear the unknown, and a big unknown is how would people react if they really knew there were no consequences to their actions.

And this has to do with the fact that god is _not_ intrinsic to people - they are told [a particular] God exists because??? Feelings of awe or splendor are intrinsic, but this is far from God - see nonmonotheistic cultures....

Science / Re: Evolution
« on: November 03, 2009, 01:42:44 PM »
The creationist will say "hey you got the answer right here in the bible, no need to ask all the silly questions!!!! God loves you!" and the atheists will say "Without a doubt, there is no way a god exists or any divine energy of power, and this is the only truth". Both these are simply WRONG. As quadz was mentionning, it is jumping to the conclusion, then doing the research with a pre-defined conclusion.... WTF

If you can find one quote in the entire forum that corresponds to: "Without a doubt, there is no way a god exists or any divine energy of power, and this is the only truth", I would be pleased.

Same old creationist just copying and pasting stuff from a fundamentalist site. He's not trying to learn or investigate.

Some people prefer fantasy facts over reality based findings.

Quake / Re: Daelmun - any updates?
« on: October 11, 2009, 08:55:47 PM »
Hmm, well the fact that daelmun claimed to use Receptive_Mink on the zone as an alias, while his disappearance followed by someone from Oslo, Norway using that name is hopefully an indication that it's him. It would have been nice to see his ip was exactly the same at one point.

As far as I know, Receptive Mink claimed he was daelmun, but never made a thing of it, which seems compatible with a non-troll/nick-stealing motive. But also at the same time, he typed and acted differently than daelmun...at least I think so to a degree.

This raises the question though, why would he publicly state he was daelmun, yet be a complete mystery to Gren and other close q2 players. He wasn't a nutcase or unstable in any way, the complete opposite. Still need more information, hopefully he is Mink.
