High-res player skins

I have remade some pf the default player skins and am looking for someone who will post them on this site. Here are some samples...

I also edited color, applied Gaussian blur, and added a cartoon effect to add value (shading wise).

Nah, they look like they have more defined pixels, but not exactly hi-res like the hi-res texture pak R1CH posted. In order to really make them hi-res and good looking, you'd probably have to completely redo them from scratch. You'd probably have to use PNG files for the skins to get the proper definition, there's only so much you can do with PCX.

I've seen a complete, quote, "hi-res" player skin pak that's probably floating around somewhere still. It was a while back, I lost the file when my hard disk crashed this spring. They looked pretty much like the original ones though, just ever so slightly redefined. Not really so that you could tell. One thing I remember about them was the fact that the colors were much darker than the original skins which made them look unattractive.

I wasn't using .pcx files they're impossible to work with... But aren't jpegs okay?

JPEG is only designed for 2D use, you should use a lossless format such as TGA or PNG for textures.

They're not "impossible" to work with if you use the right programs to handle them. If I alter any PCX images, I will typically use IrfanView to convert it to BMP, then use MSPaint to make any changes to it by hand. Then I use Wally to apply the Quake2 color palette and convert it back to PCX.

From what I remember about player skins, they are a little frustrating. When I tried to alter some skins to add the EoM logo across the backs of some female skins, I remember I ended up having to write it backwards to get it to show up correctly. To my knowledge, there is no program that would allow you to draw on the skin while seeing it applied to the model in real-time so that you'll know how it looks. You'd just have to make any changes, save it, then use something like MD2Viewer to apply the skin and view it (or load it into the player folder and view it directly in Q2).

Sure there is.  It's called NPherno's skin tool.  You get two screens. One of the model and one of the flat skin.  You can paint on the flat and see it come out on your model or do the opposite.
