Once upon a time in 2006 there was a 'coder' named shadowalker
he ran a closed source engine called Hyperdrive
he accused Darkplaces (another Quake engine) of stealing his ideas, and implementations
The quake engine source is released under the GPL
Darkplaces' source was available
Hyperdrive was not
John Carmack was notified of both issues - the closed sourceness and the accusations.

Can you guess what happened next?

That reminds me.  During this discussion I have been assuming both Q2E and Berserker@Q2 are covered by the GPL, and thus source code for both projects is freely available.

Is this correct?

I looked on http://berserker.quakegate.net/ but didn't see an obvious link to download source.

I see comments here saying they believe odium cause he didn't go down to childish levels, well, I disagree. The bottom line is that odium started accusations of something that in any case a GPL project can NEVER be acused. First, because, even if bersekerQ2 used Q2E code, they are on it's right to do it, and they have no obligation of giving credits to anyone. Code can NEVER BE STOLED from a GPL source. Second, because he makes up these acusations from nowhere. I don't know (nor care) if bersekerQ2 uses Q2E code or not, but odium doesn't seem to know it either. He just makes up guesses from screenshots.
So yeah, the Russian crew is exagerated on their use of emoticons, but they have all the right to feel pissed off.

And I cheer up Berserk (the argentinian one) who does all the coding and never gets involved in these stupid wars.
