my response about the +ia and traps was not made to institute a poll.
I am fine with my own solutions to the supposed problem.

I don't see any reason for any drastic coding measures.

I can deal with it.  In the grand scheme of things, trap spamming is very small on my radar.

xtyfe, you're slandering btf in basically every thread that you've posted in lately. BTF has a reputation for being one of the nicest clans around w/ the best sportsmanship. You on the other hand have a reputation for being a broken record repeating the same stupid whines. When people read your posts putting down BTF, everyone just laughs at how much of an idiot you are. No one buys it, nor does anyone care about any complaint or server suggestion that you have due to your stupidity and immaturity. Just my take on events that have been unfolding lately. id like to request that traps be disabled when +IA is in use on the xatrix server
there abused way to much, this is seen alot on xdmp7 as with many other maps where traps spawn alot

Well first of aff, i didn't see that at first. So my apologies for this. LOL, I guess i'm stupid. Actually it's all this dam coffee's fault, it keeps me up WAY to late at night. I drink it like water, unless beer gets in it's way.

I won't comment on any of the other stuff you said, atleast not till i've had a good start on a fresh 6-pack.

This implies that traps can be dropped while weapon stay is on?

That means they are treated like a powerup rather than a weapon. Hmmm...

I believe they are treated like hand grenades.

Which are treated like ammunition rather than a weapon being the only reason this will work. In inf ammo you can drop any type of ammunition and get full amounts back. I.E. if you have a power armor and take damage. Drop cells and pick them back up. This is also interesting for messing around. You can effectivley "juggle" grenade ammo pickups.

Also lets not forget that unaltered versions of 3.14 (and i think even 3.20 before the official 3.21 engine release) the BFG would not spawn if weapon stay or inf ammo was enabled. Also typing "give BFG10k" would be caught and trigger the death command. So it's not unprecidented for the original designers to disable a weapon they thought would make a game less fun.

To stay along the same lines, Rogue's expansion has a disruptor gun. There's lots of hardcoded exceptions in the code that causes the disruptor to also be removed in single player, and based on other server flags. It's also not unprecidented for expansions of Quake 2 to remove weapons they thought would make the game less fun. (same is true for the nuke)

Also inside of the single player, the traps were so few and far between, I think that in running through the game 3 times in a row in coop, I used a single trap and caught a single gladiator in it. They were placed throughout the game more scarcely than quads. I honestly think that the developers viewed it as a powerup, or at the very least a special item worthy of including only in rare secrets.

Either way, turning off a trap using a flag when using mymap is no different than disruptors, nukes, quads, or BFG's.
