[REQUEST] Trap abuse with +IA on xatrix

id like to request that traps be disabled when +IA is in use on the xatrix server
there abused way to much, this is seen alot on xdmp7 as with many other maps where traps spawn alot

You've got to be kidding me?????  Hell No.  I know you are not up on a server, you hardly play, requesting shit get changed. If you played there often, you'd understand the rhythm of how we do there and most of us there are there to have a good laugh. IA is there to spice things up and have fun. It is not on EVERY friggen map. To some, setting traps is an art form...and EXTERMINATOR does a damn good job with them and can throw them probably the best I've seen on that server. Traps is a key part of Xatrix. You take traps away, you pretty much have mutant. Xatrix is not like other mods as far as what one can politically correctly get away with. Teaming is more acceptable, and camping is more acceptable. You pretty much have to camp if you're going to man a trap anyways. Taking away traps is taking away the dynamic of that mod. Don't like the +IA on that particular map, I suggest you sit that one out.

I also hate having traps in ia, but it's mainly because I hate infinte ammo.

oh, and cows.  I hate cows also.

in these cases I just avoid the part of the map that is being covered in traps.
if everyone would do that then boredom would set in for the cow and his evil bovine scheme would be foiled.

I disagree. Xatrix's biggest feature are the maps, not the weapons. Also a secondary server with even no traps at all would generate new traffic. Or even setting it as a flag in mymap. I understand the desire to unalter the game, however there's little difference between disabling traps and disabling a quad.

throwing 5-10 each way so you cant even get in there to get rid of him?

im not saying traps should be taken away, just not abused like i saw on the server last night
if he needs to abuse them to get anywhere, then he should stick to the vanilla server

Traps taking your prey's ability away to run enables you use less work in your attempts to killing them however; they are far from defenseless in those positions. EXTERMINATOR has learned to use the gravitational fields of traps in +IA as a weapon rendering the prey helpless in control of ensnarement prevention. Any server with a map enabling +IA I refuse to take seriously. I label +IA just plain fun and a chance to partake in a skill less spam fest. EXTERM can spam his traps, and I can spam my fav combo, Invul/Quad/Chain.   

Yes Dukie, sometimes we are sport and let the Bovines have their trap fun; other times we just want to get the map over with as fast as possible and just hurl ourselves into their traps to reach fraglimit.

however, there are some that would like to have a more serious game

i have come up with a comprise to this, one which will allow you to keep traps with +IA
but it would require quadz modifying the mod

allow the traps to take damage and explode when they have received enough, like the teslas in rogue
EXTERMINATOR can continue his nubness and think hes a pro and at the same time i can get in there and show him otherwise

the exception to this is that they can not take damage when they have someone caught
otherwise it would render them useless if that could happen

I can praise whomever I wish, yay! He's better than anyone I've seen at trap placement as far as throwing is concerned. I've seen others who are excellent at setting traps in unsuspecting places that invites a person to turn a corner and walk right in. "Getting owned," no....I like having fun by/with someone camping traps. I do not look at it as "getting owned." If getting owned is what you do not like, then perhaps that's the issue you should be addressing, (in a mirror), not try and change server dynamics.

You haven't defined "abused." He was spamming traps. Just like I have the ability to spam weapons and the other traps on a map. What is sad, is this is all about ONE particular map. This isn't a constant occurrence.

Oh, and on further note...this whole telling people whose gameplay you do not like to go to Vanilla is getting old. Every person has a right to play on whatever server they wish, if they are not banned or using cheats. It's as if you've declared yourself the Center of Disease Control of Tastyspleen servers and picked out persons to be quartantined on a Vanilla leprosy colony. You apologized to me before just short of a year ago for doing that but continue to proceed to do it. If you want that type of server control, get your own, there problem solved.

traps are annoying on ia but how often is a ia map played?  yeah not to often so just sit it out. Or do what i do, get the chain and camp.

Xatrix is prob my fav server, mainly because the people that play there are just out to have fun. No one REALLY takes the games there all that serious, and that makes for some pretty entertaining moments Good times, good people, quad traps what more could you ask for?
