sometimes when were playing ra2 in a pub and jagers team will be losing he will go emo, bitch for 10 mins about how using vent in a pub is "ruining the game" and then disconnect, its like if the dude doesnt have anything negative to say he doesnt say anything at all, although when you talk to him on irc he seems ok

Not to start a "lets pick on Jagar" thread but this reminds me of a documentary I saw a while ago on Public TV called "I, Curmudgeon". Its about 'negative' people who really do see the world with a different perspective. I can totally relate. Reminds me of high school, which was tough for me...BTW the picture of the kid is the director who looks exactly the same as an adult.

I'd say that jager has a point about microphones in pub servers..

all you need to do is play on a pub server for CS 1.6 for about an hour, and this will become insanely clear to you.
The game is nearly always ruined for me until I turn off the voice settings, cuz all I can hear when I'm listening for footsteps is some jackass 12 year old kids, talking about certain acts that they have yet to experience in annoyingly high voices, while using the most reprehensible grammar ever imagined.

In pub servers, where people are playing random pickups, they're just another way for people to act like children and ruin the game for others. (giving away their locations, making noise to annoy/distract the players who are still in etc..)

Ventrillo makes it even worse than a built in voice chat feature, becuase you could be spectating and still flooding the channel with your voice and annoying the shit out of people who are actually playing, or helping them to cheat against each other.

I find all of these uses of microphones to be incredibly poor sportsmanship.
In clan matches, where only your clan mates have access to the channel and all of them are actually in game and playing while talking, microphones are very useful, and I have no problem with them.

My brother is a guy who is always angry, never smiling and just plain mean. I get that its a way of protecting himself from others, but putting up such a shield will make life harder in the long run.
