i dont think christianity fails or is false.  Many people are burned and turned away from spirituality because of the actions of churches.  Religion is not Churches.  Any form of faith you will find in yourself, not external. 

i am like basic, i am spritual but not religious.  i think the large orginazations fail at what they set out to do in the beginning.  End up as beuraucracies with a larger need to sustain themselves then to serve thier original purpose.  But dont throw out the words of all the masters because of the acts done in thier names.  The words do speak for themselves.  i dont think any of the masters have come to create religions.  They came to enlighten, not entrap.

There are many reasons people are challenged by religion.  i think one of the basic challenges is the percieved need to give away your power.  It is assumed you need to become a nonthinking sheep.  Forced to follow with free will taken away.  Free will is the reason for man's creation.  No master would ever take it away.  But there is a need to submit.  It is the act of removing the ego from the process of being and creating.  It doesnt mean submit blindly.  In fact, to do it proper, a person first needs to develop the ability to discern. 

The road to enlightenment is a challenging one.  And it doesnt happen in a day.  The ego will fight for control at every corner, and the road does require a time when you basically jump off of a ledge with the hope that you will land in the hands of something bigger then your self.  It is one of the necessary tests.

Egos were created to keep the body safe.  Left unchecked, they tend to become the dominent center for thought, and are highly manipulative to concious and unconcious thought.  They are the single largest blockage to enlightenment.

Will science prove that there had to be intelligence behind the creation of the universe and the laws of physics that hold it together?

Does the Supreme Being reside in one of the other dimensions?

Using the "wayback machine"  to a time long ago I must reference a saying that made it's way around - 'course it don't mean much now obviously. The saying was "Speed Kills" and we wasn't talkin cars.

I've noticed religion has been mentioned in a not so favorable light several times (duh!  I just noticed again  it's the name of the thread  ) and would like to take the old sayin we used back then and apply it to religion.  Here it is short and sweet, "Religion Kills"

People have asked me many times when they find out I'm a pastor "what religion are you?" I quickly tell them, I'm a christian, a spiritual person, and I hope to God I'm no longer religious because religion has killed more people than all the world wars, korea, vietnam and all the rest since then. Still does for that matter. Why? Someone has already answered that question. Ego. All of the (I hate to even use the word) great "holy" wars of the past (and even those of the present) are because the participants forget the central teachings - it's all about our relationships with others, not just about the big ME (Sorry) or perhaps I guess I should say IMHO.
