I always found it funny when The Passion of the Christ came out, and everyone was saying how they didn't enjoy the movie because Jim Caviezel didn't "look" like Jesus.

I remember when that came out in 2004 I think. EVERYBODY went to go see it. It made RETARDED amounts of money at the box office, over 600 million apparently according to wiki, and that's versus the 30 million spent to make it. That's almost like taking 30 million to a casino, putting it all on 14 red at the roulette table, and winning. And back then, I was pretty anti-religion, and I still went to see it anyway. I did so because many people said it was good (sales kinda proved that was apparently the case as well), but I also liked the movies Mel Gibson had directed up to that point (Braveheart & Man Without A Face).

I thought it was a good movie personally. I don't believe in the religious stuff about it, but I think some kind of Jesus person probably did exist at some point and true elements about his actual life became the basis of the biblical accounts of his life. Seems plausible to me anyway.  I thought the movie did a good job of making the viewer feel like they were actually watching real things going on back then. I mean, obviously it's a movie, it's not real, and you know that watching it. But like some shitty 80's movies that you watch, you watch it and none of it "feels" real, you don't get immersed into the story like you do with a GOOD movie with good production and direction.

Mel Gibson had talked for a LONG time about wanting to make a sequel to it... and with the box office numbers Passion of the Christ got, it's almost mandatory. Apparently it's been "in progress" for many years now, and work on it still continues. According to what I've read online, it was likely going to come out sometime THIS year, but due to the coronavirus and other shit, it's getting delayed until 2021.

Passion was an interesting part of the Jesus story, but the sequel is supposed to address what happened in the 3 days AFTER the crucifixion, which should make it a really unique and interesting movie. I don't really recall seeing any movies that addressed what happened to Jesus DURING the 3 days before the resurrection. And from what I recall of past study of the first 4 books of the New Testament, I don't remember much being said at all about the experiences of Jesus himself during those 3 days,... so perhaps it'll draw more from Catholic texts, who knows.

My point in posting this is not to echo the statement "THEY MADE IT ALL UP" like the video thumbnail shows. The more interesting thought provoking part is how he points out the similarities between the major religions.

2023 coming to an end. Surely if this were coming soon, it would probably be big enough to have a Christmas Day release date, but I've heard not a peep about ANY work being done on it. Something tells me we'll never get this in the can. *shrugs*
