"I think it is very beautiful for the poor to accept their lot, to share it with the passion of Christ. I think the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people." -- Mother Teresa
Too bad she's dead. I'd love to meet her. Ya know,... just hang out with her for a day.... Maybe she'd share some of that SUPER-DUPER POWERFUL SHIT with me that she must've been smoking when she made such a ridiculously stupid statement.
well she probably should of phrased the quote differently. but I think she meant "the poor people living by the philosphy of jesus christ have improved humanity".
I'm angry that Mother Teresa took her personal suffering and despair at her lost faith in God, and turned it into an obsession that led her to treat suffering as a beautiful gift from Christ to humanity, a beautiful offering from humanity to God, and a necessary part of spiritual salvation. And I'm angry that this obsession apparently led her to offer grotesquely inadequate medical care and pain relief at her hospitals and hospices, in essence taking her personal crisis of faith out on millions of desperately poor and helpless people.
The book includes personal accounts from people who worked with her, and from doctors who visited her infirmaries, about the inadequate care provided to the suffering and dying patients. And provides compelling evidence--including M. Teresa's own admission--that it wasn't lack of funds that was preventing medical relief from being administered to her patients, but her own conviction that their suffering was somehow beneficial.
Could be an athiest conspiracy.
