I would agree 100%. I raised a child by myself in San Francisco, and as you might guess from the reputation my city has, I saw the gamut of family setups during her school years. I can honestly say that the quality of life and the nurturing those other kids received had nothing to do, as near as I could tell, with the makeup of the family. I wouldn't claim that my experience was all-encompassing, but I did spend a lot of time with other families and their kids. The troubled children all came from homes with a lot of problems -- but sexual orientation of the parents didn't seem to be a common thread.

Gay rights is the civil liberty issue of our time.

Some people want to restrict two consenting adults from being able to marry. When I think of representing this arrogance in person, I can barely imagine it. I mean, take someone you respect from your work/school, imagine walking up to them and telling them "you cannot marry the one you love". Such arrogance! And for what reason?

I believe people argue based upon an unfair perception -- probably some uber-gay stereotype. I wonder if people actually know gay people before judging.

Last, when it comes to personal rights, one should consider the case of it being their son/daughter. Would you restrict your gay son/daughter from marrying? If you are going to assert a law that restricts all people of a group, you had better be sure it is out of understanding and not arrogance.

if by "trend" you mean, "current style", then no, being homosexually oriented is not a trend.

otherwise,

if by "trend" you mean, "A general tendency or inclination", then yes it seems being homosexually oriented is more of a trend among animals than previously thought. (1500 species documented so far)

now do you understand how annoying it is when people, who have nothing better to say, throw exact word definitions around like they are really more important than the gist of a sentence or phrase?

i have an issue with gays adopting
i think under all equal conditions, a man and a woman should take care of the child over a homosexual relationship
but it's not that big of a thing compared to other issues, so you just have to weigh things , and set your policy accordingly
