I don't disagree. Crazy to say it, considering what I thought back in week 1 and 2, but I think Georgia has the best chance of winning it all. I don't think they actually WILL though. I've come to expect these occasional flashes of brilliance where we're built up only to be let down by our home teams here in Georgia. Except for the World Series in 97... which happened to be the year after the baseball strike when a lot of fans AND players were pretty "who gives a shit" towards baseball.

I can't believe they've come this far though. In years passed we've had QB's like Matt Stafford and Aaron Murray. We've got an extremely unremarkable QB right now. We've had a runningback like Todd Gurley who, I'll say it with no shame even as a die hard Georgia fan, was probably BETTER than Hershel Walker. Nick Chubb is good, but he's not as good as he was before he got injured, and was NEVER as good as Gurley.

Kinda reminds of when the Falcons went to the superbowl back in 99. They were entirely unremarkable on paper. But somehow they got there. And then they failed miserably. As miserable of a failure as last years SuperBowl choke? I dunno, that's debatable. Is it better to get your ass kicked from about 10 minutes into the 1st quarter onwards until you lose, or is it better to kick the other teams ass for 3 quarters and then choke and let them come back to tie and win it in OT?

Georgia is definitely #1 currently. They're undefeated in the SEC blowing teams out and have a win over #3 notre dame. The playoff rankings love the sec, big 10, clemson/fsu/Miami, notre dame, USC and Oklahoma like they always have. If both Alabama and Georgia remain undefeated then have a reasonably close game in the sec championship they will both make the playoffs I think. But I'm still on the fence as to whether they will be undefeated due to Georgia tech and maybe auburn.

The rankings have always been subjective, but they're not heading in a terrible direction so far THIS YEAR anyway.

Georgia, Alabama, and then probably clemson are the 3 most obvious playoff teams. After that it's penn state, notre dame, and Ohio state. After that, I think the next best team is VA Tech.

I agree about the possible upset of UGA & ALA.  If they let the rankings (especially UGA) go to their heads, they can get beat.
UGA has not had anyone stuff their running game yet, so the QB has not had to step up and make the difference in a game.

Nah. The committee ain't THAT biased. Even if both of them are undefeated up to that point, this game will be like Highlander: There can be only one. (IF they have any fucking self respect, that is.)

But that situation would exemplify the biggest problem with ranking and seeding. If a team is going to end the season 11-1, it is preferred to collect that loss EARLY rather than late in the season. It makes a little bit of sense in that obviously they have the better win streak entering bowl season, thus it should be implied they'll be less likely to lose again. But... that's a STUPID stat. It's based on assumption, not fact. The "fact" is that two teams with an 11-1 record still have the same fucking record no matter WHEN that 1 loss occurred.

So yeah, if the committee looked at it properly, then Georgia COULD lose the SEC Championship game and still get seeded in the playoffs... IF... everyone else performs poorly enough to warrant keeping Georgia ranked somewhere within the top 4 in terms of a power ranking or whatever. But... pretty clearly... the committee doesn't operate in an unbiased way. Therefore because Alabama has consistently been ranked high, seems to me those idiots would be much more likely to allow Alabama to lose the SEC Championship and still enter the playoffs. And that's the WRONG reason to favor anyone over someone else. For these committee voters, last year and every year before it should cease to exist.

There are still a few games to be played.  I just hope ND and Ohio St. do not get in.

I think they are that biased. I think that if it came down to it they'd give reigning champs clemson the boot, and do bama Georgia Ohio state and notre dame. Ohio state's only loss is to Oklahoma who the comittee loves, and notre dame lost to Georgia by 1 pt and beat southern cal who the comittee loves. Clemson with a loss to Syracuse.

They'd be in a pickle if VA tech beats clemson in the ACC championship. Their only loss being against clemson yet redeemed themselves later.

One more thing: Clemson is playing nc state in Raleigh this weekend. I know clemson has dropped games to Syracuse and Pitt over the past 2 years but nc state over the past 10 years was the only team to consistently upset clemson or Florida state. They used to do it almost every year and almost always at HOME. I think there was a 8 year streak where Florida state only ever dropped games to nc state, clemson, or UNC.

If nc state beats clemson that means the ACC's playoff hopes are gone unless va tech wins the ACC championship.

I only saw like 5 seconds of the game right before the 2min warning when I briefly turned on the tv before going to take a shit. I said, "Yep, they gonna lose.", and then went to take a dump.
