Okay.  For the last couple of months the tastyspleen regular DM q2 servers have been very unstable.  Lots of lag, ping bouncing up and down.   Can someone please reboot and check into these servers please?

Before you removed the other posts, did you alert the server admins that there may be an issue?  It is not clear if you just moderate the boards or if you also have something to do with the servers that run the games.

Can you please make the server admins aware?  Thank you.

What does your netgraph look like?

No clue about net graph (but probably similar to the turd the other guy posted).  But can't we just get a reboot?  When's the last time they were rebooted?  There has been a noticeable degradation of quality since the summer.  And I don't think its my fios connection.  No problems anywhere else.   It used to be rock solid unitl starting maybe in August.

Sometimes I fire and nothing happens.   Sometimes players jerk all over the place and then rapidly move to a different spot.  I have asked others on the server and they notice as well.  Yes, if you live in Texas its fine. 

Did the servers change hosting providers or peering arrangements recently?   Something has changed.   Who is the person (or persons) to contact about checking the server and rebooting?

console = quadz = admin of all the servers. chances are if there are people whose netgraphs are fine, its just your connection. my netgraph has been awful the past month, and i know that its just that my connection sucks.

I've noticed the same problem as well. I'll have to post a pic of my netgraph sometime. My ping has increased and there are jumps in the game like lag or shooting and it takes a second or half of one to see where the shot went. My rail suffers the most from this

I don't mind restarting the vanilla/dm servers for the hell of it, as this is simple enough to do (at some point early in the A.M. when they empty out.)

Again, however, my netgraphs are flat green and gameplay is smooth, so this tends to rule out server-side lag. (I'm 1000 miles from Dallas.)

What you describe sounds precisely like packetloss.

As such, I'd recommend setting "netgraph 1" in your Q2 console and watching for red spikes. (Screenshotting it and posting it here would be helpful.)

Our Dallas hosting provider hasn't changed in a decade, and we last changed datacenters within that provider a couple years ago.

But yes, it's possible peering arrangements have changed somewhere along the route between you and the server.

If the problem is visible in your netgraph, you'll want to run a traceroute to tastyspleen.net, and I can also run some 'mtr' packet traces from the server to your IP and gather additional stats.

More then likely completely unrelated, but I would like to add that my ping has went from 68-72 80-84 . Pinging 84 from west coast to Dallas on a 30 meg cable connection

Did you reboot yet?   I was seeing pings around 58 - 60 tonight (instead of 70 and 80).  But I was only on for a short time, so not sure if it was just a momentary lucky thing.  I'm running q2pro -- it doesn't let me type in netgraph.

yea, well i downloaded some ra2 maps files in an exe file on the tasty download section. So long story short, it doesn't have any of the core maps. it has a bunch of map names i never seen before. where can i find a reliquary of the maps i need to play on the east ra2. (palace of brak) etc. hmm maybe i will try well of souls if they have it. if they do i will link them here in an edit so the downloads section can be copied and updated. (if console so desires, so he's not out of the loop)

Well my ping graph looks like a comb -- very spiky.   I do think the server needs a reboot.
