vent itself is not bad, ghosting is bad... you can do that with just mm2 as well, vent just makes it easier

vent is great for team play if you are into ctf or tdm

ex isnt a total douche for just using vent, the problem was that he was ghosting and giving info

ok nubcake, but its hard to separate "ghosting" from team play while using ventrillo. If youre ganna use ventrillo its almost a certainty that youre going to ghost with your friends. so is the problem the "ghosting" or the program that enables it

I would expect the acme rules to be changed shortly because of this. Using Acme vent to cause chaos on other servers will likely be frowned upon

Vent has it's legitimate use to communicate with teammates while in play and to make playing quake more of a social experience.  Using vent to chase and give the location of enemies however is cheap and childish.  In match play this would be considered cheating. In pub play it is too, but it's impossible to prevent or stop unless someone is dumb enough to brag about it.   Ex, you and h0ps were getting your jolly's at the expense of 2dum.  Not liking someone is not justification for being an asshole and trying to ruin the game for them.  Read through what you have written here and reconsider your position.  We all can be belligerent and get ahead of ourselves at times, but reasonable people will respect and forgive you so long as you're willing to admit it.

You're a complete idiot.  There is a difference in pub vs. league/tourney/ladder.  If you use Vent specifically to spec the other team and feed teammates info in an organized match, that's bannable in my book.  But if it's on pub?  You're a whiny little fucking vagina, just like 2dum.

While I do not agree at all that using Vent for a pub setting in the way I used it is cheating, I admit my mistake was doing it using ACME's Vent.  I promise never to use ACME's servers for this purpose again, as that was wrong of me to cross communities in this fashion.

I still refuse to think it's wrong what I was doing though, tbh.  haunted made the ultimate justification for it - ghosting shouldn't be done unless someone is hiding and intentionally slowing up the game.  That happened too many times to count the other night with 2dum specifically.

Seriously, it's not even about not liking 2dum.  Believe it or not, I actually do like him.  I just get irritated with all that hiding shit.  And for damn sure when I say someone is hiding, that's saying something.  Ruining the game for him?  He was ruining the game for everyone else by hiding in the first place.
