Use the sheridan roundhouse kick in place of knife kills.

Stolen kills happen all the time. Part of the game.

Distribute ammo via ent overrides and make it so you can only grab that ammo if you are on that stage of the game. Limit the amount of max ammo for certain guns to counter the potential lack of balance between say, a chaingun vs machine gun. The cg would have 50 and the machinegun 75. Ammo packs would grant 25 for both.

Just some ideas to further refine.

if some one is gonna code this make sure you dont accidentally put in a logic error that would cause 3 kills with the bfg to bump you up 3 levels lol

reverse order does sound pretty damn fun :) however, blaster i think should be omitted as its kinda useless when everyone else is running around with bfg's and shit.... perhaps just exchange blaster out for a melee or something? could use the sheridan kick like suggested :)

There is an old Quake 2 mod like this. Should be listed on an archive on planet quake for an old mod review site


The only difference was that there was no BFG, and everyone started with rail and worked down to blaster. That made it get harder as you progress.

Since the BFG would be the end then it wouldn't matter if you got 3 kills or not.  :)

And from what my brother was telling me, the point is that unless you do good you will have a crappy weapon.  And you still have your old weapons, you just don't advance a level unless you use the latest one.

I can't find any working archives of Mod Central. There is one on quakewiki.net but the main page unfortunately doesn't load.

It's a very quick mod to code.

You would just need to add a new variable to the client data to record which weapon that the player should have, create a quick little function to replace the current weapon and force the player to switch, and then add calls to that function in the functions that increment the player's score.

Discussed this before.   Strongly suggest that the gun order be strongest to weakest.   Everyone starts with a BFG etc.   This is a great way to handicap the best players because they are running around trying to get blaster kills while the newest players are always loaded.

you could always add more variety of weapons since cs has a large variety of weapons

also the hand grenade can be before the blaster, like how the HE grenade is before the knife
