Some people who are in "impossible-to-know/find" areas don't realize the railgun gives off this.... "easy-to-find/locate" buzz...

I've been accused of wallhacking by some railgun campers

wtf are you talking about? the only thing the railgun gives off is rails and sound. there is no buzz that ive heard, and I have my q2 hooked up to my surround sound, which is 1600watts of bass btw, so i think i would even hear a low level hum. though, a hum could be added somehow to easily hear people hiding. and thats called a cheat.

I can hear a hum from other players railguns.
Kinda hard to hear it in a FFA game with 27 other players though.
I have heard another players railgun hum from around a corner and below catwalks etc,.
Once you know what to listen for it is easily heard. (with no headphones even

)

Yep it does give off a low hum, kinda hard to hear on crowded server with a lot other sounds going on, but it does.

The BFG also gives a low level hum - much less obvious than the rail but also detectable...

Here's part of a demo that shows me killing my own teammate from his hummm.... I would have cut it down more but keygrip is so damn buggy...

I can only hear others footsteps

Hey Plastik,

No problem, dude. Q2 has a lot of nuances that I'm still learning about myself...

I didn't realize you could mute your footsteps from yourself, that might make other sounds come in more clearly... although when walking you wouldn't be able to tell when you're making sound and therefore not know when your opponent can hear you. Blech, why am I still thinking about this stuff? I can't play team anymore

yeah, try getting newinternet.connection i hear its great! ;p just fucking around. whats ur connect speeds? theres really nothing you can do to up your bandwidth on any dialup, if thats what u have. and if you have DSL/CABLE/etc then i don't know what to say. maybe a proxy perhaps? tastyspleen is a pretty fast server. i live 3 states away from it. when i download maps i avg. around 400KB/sec on it. though im sure it can go faster than that since it has to run 5 or so servers, upload maps/players/etc and still have no lag. viva la tastyspleen!

i hear insight broadband, and insight in general are broke and comcast is going to be merging with them early next year. heard it from a supervisor. THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN YOU YANKS! which is odd because i was born in chicago, hehe
