Talking about making changes to q2 as we know it, yeah a browser based would be kewl, But why bother when we have a solid way on now, unlagged for the most part, smoothly running features, etc. Just talking about adding features to our already running q2 community, Bringing it up to date and attractive to the new school gamers that will go out of their way to get a game that looks pretty, and won't be lucky enough to experience the truely unique gameplay that quake2 can bring.
Doing the same thing that qlive did as far as web browser integration is not going to be useful in this case.
One big thing i was thinking of that would make things complicated is identical aliases :/ if your keeping track of shit like ip's then some people are too dynamic to keep any progress, if your keeping track of aliases then some people can just alias as you and just blow through all the achievements and ruin your fun... or as in my case, i know there is a euro player who plays as 404 occasionally (only know this after looking at a stats page for q2)The idea of a client addon is a really good one, and you could add things in like a !achievements chat command similar to the versions one where everyone will kick back stats of how well they have done on getting them all If all else fails, the simple road could still work, just make a forum section for achievements and have people post demos of doing them, and then some one just looks over the demo and says ALRIGHT heres your achievement, and it could be added to your forum profile lol
i probably have a 1% chance of ever winning in duel against you
