Ahhhh ... nothing beats DSL512 with a 9GB cap! Its also costs like twice as much as a top connection in USA! Lollerz..

they (verizon) just installed fiber optics here... havent started selling it yet though, i cant afford it.. but its supposed to be around 5x cable speed

1 A virus
2 Spam and Spyware.

Scan your HD and clean it out with antivirus/spam/spyware. That should fix your problems.

IF not,

FORMAT RE install windows from scratch.

Hmm solo, i might be mistaken but I believe 15Mbps is going for $85 here, I've got 5Mbps cable so wouldnt bother with the same in FO

I don't know why they would make it more expensive in certain areas without mentioning it on their website $:-\$

Even if you have 5Mbps down from cable, I doubt you have 2Mbps up, that's the important thing. Well I guess it depends on how you use your connection. $:-\$

Okay okay okay im in the shit again... I scanned for viruses and had seven.. one got fixed, the other 3 i dont know and then came a delete virus prompt, im not sure what viruses they were, but it asked "are you sure.. blah de blah de blah" and before i could click ok, the crazy router thing I described in my first post happened and the "blue screen of death" came up (bright blue, errors and "dumping phsyical memory" crap.. then the puter rebooted itself.. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!

But what about all my precious data?! I dont have the discs for my 3dfx card, well.. i dont have them for anything! (what would i need) and my music! i cant back all that up on cd-r's! itd take days! and i have no q2 disc! NOOOOOOOOO is there a way around it?

There's several ways to get rid of viruses, but you need to know the virus name and where it's located. Norton and McaFee both offer specific virus removers. If you can't find one, you can boot to dos (if that's an option) and remove them there. If they have infected an essential type system file, well that's another story.

I have norton and thats what found all 7! but as i said there were 3 that i dont know whatr happened to, 1 got fixed but three of them were to delete (when the blue screen came up) and they were just along the lines of adware stuff (installers etc)

Well I would suggest getting ahold of a boot disc such as Knoppix or a BartPE disc. Then disconnect your internet and use the boot disc to delete all system folders (i.e., Windows, Program Files, etc...) and files on the root of the C drive. Then re-install windows and "before reconnecting the internet" install all anti-virus and firewall programs, then reconnect internet and go to Window update and also update your Anti-virus.

You can get 3dfx drivers here, www.voodoofiles.com

This method is better than reformating since you won't loose anything important. Then I would suggest slowly making backups over time in case anything else happesn.

Then get Spybot, make sure it's updated and use it to immunize your system, and make sure the Internet Explorer protections are on.

Well if your norton found and was capable of removing them all, then nevermind. What I was refering to was a specific virus remover just for that one certain virus. There are some that the standard norton (like you and I have) can't remove. There are some that have to be removed before they are loaded at boot due to sharing violations or some such thing.

I am going ter replace Norton with AVG cos norton on this p2 drains the living life out of it! its sooo slow! and I should imagine AVG is better for this thing right? I might try and get hold of knoppix, but when I get my new system (See my thread on that

) then ill have ter reformat anyway to install all the new drivers and shit, and just to make a fresh start, so I reckon it'll suffice till then.. I got ZA and as for spyware, i have ad-aware, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, Xcleaner and erm.. well, HiJackThis if that counts, but i only used that when ya told me to before on other probs!
