But what about all my precious data?! I dont have the discs for my 3dfx card, well.. i dont have them for anything! (what would i need) and my music! i cant back all that up on cd-r's! itd take days! and i have no q2 disc! NOOOOOOOOO is there a way around it?

did you just say 3dfx ? that shit is old anyway, you wont need them drivers when you get yourself a good card (64-256 mbs)

i probably dont even need anti-spyware or anti-virus myself :p my computer is always clean
just need to makes sure you know where you are on the net and what you download
and if any kind of warnings come up in your browser, pay attention to them. web sites will try to force you into downloading crap to be able to view there pages
stuff like msn plus or kazaa contain loads of spyware, pay attention to what it askes you when you install programs like that, some give you the option to install the spyware or not rofl

use firefox and thunderbird if you can, you probabaly wont get half as much spyware as IE does
also partition your hard drive, if you ever have to format your main partition, your other partition with your files on it should be safe
infact, if you were to do that, you should be able to format and save your other files
