Life's worst feelings

Right now, my worst feeling is the thought of losing a good friend.

I have this friend that suffers from depression, she's 15 years old.

One thing I find interesting is how differently people seem to respond to someone with physical illness, compared to mental illness.

Solo_Senshi, I bet you anything she's doing it to try to get people's attention to something.  There's a lot of people who claim they'll commit suicide, but never do, or purposely make failing attempts.  My friend once claimed he tried to commit suicide with 9 ibuprofens, which apparently isn't even close to the amount to kill you.  If you were really going to commit suicide, why would you only take 9?  The answer: He wasn't actually trying to.  The same night he was on MSN saying "I'm fading", and next day, he was fine.  Still depressed, but alive.

Paxil is supposed to be particularly good for OCD. If she doesn't want to take anything than the other choice is death. She's medicating herself with meth anyway. This is a better alternative.

Are you saying that the meth is a better alternative?  Meth is very dangerous and is going to mess her up real bad, even worse than she already is, I don't see how that can be good at all.  And being 15 you know she isn't able to pay for something like that out of pocket, meth is highly expensive, and I'm not going to just sit here and allow her to pay for it with her body.

I've been told by others that the reason she does this is that she wants help but doesn't know how to ask for it.  I was chatting with her once when she said she had just taken 22 pain killers, she couldn't tell me what kind they were though, but I guess they weren't that bad since she didn't die from them.  I didn't see her on chat for like four days afterwards though, and when she did come on, she said she had been sick.

I really don't think she's going to kill herself.  But the poor girls been through a lot of stuff, and is still going through some things, mainly with her stepbrother.  I"m just fed up with it, and I'm going to do something about it, even if it makes her hate me.

It's not expensive because it's made from a bunch of shit in your drug/cleaning cabinets. Pretty much an alternative for people who can't afford the expensive shit to put up their nose, like coke.

OCD can relate to suicidal people because OCD is caused by anxiety. and anxiety is not easy to live with, especially if you have a extreme case of OCD and have these crazy daily routines you feel compulsed to do. it can be extremely upsetting if they aren't done right... it causes stress and anxiousness...

Oh, my older sister used to do it and she said it was expensive, so I was just going on that.  Maybe it could be more expensive in some regions, like in an extremely small town, idk.

Daemia, I myself have OCD or some variant of it, and I've been recovering over the years.  I'm well aware of the struggle of being scared, performing rituals and going in circles.  I don't see how an anxiety disorder turns one into a suicider.  Just because you have thoughts of suicide doesn't mean you'll do it.  From what I've read, surveys show most people have crazy thoughts from time to time pop into their consciousness, it doesn't mean there are impulses there.

I'm also fascinated that you know a fair amount about OCD.  Is there something about your mental makeup that suggests OCD?

i could see that, people can have horrible cases of anxiety.  I once really had bad anxiety for about three years, and could certainly see how bad anxiety could contriute to suicidal tendancies.

and had since my early teens, never been treated

it has changed me alot, i dont have the drive and energy to do things like i used too
