Reflex - very nice!

Do you have a .pak for that?

I think that's one of the most interesting dirt/rock textures I've seen in Q2.  Most seem to have high-contrast features, but they're non-aligned, so they end up looking like a big checker-board on the wall.  I think this is the first I've seen that's aligned so that it works for the "whole wall".  Does it work as well on other maps like city1?  Or is it tuned for q2dm1?

Hmm, doesn't seem to work well with r1q2/r1gl. :raincloud:

Which client is this pak intended to work with?

its prolly just .wal files, ill look and see but it should work no probs on r1gl :/

also: if you have MORe then 1 pak that has textures in it,things get fucky for some reason.
Sometimes textures can upscale or even shrink :(
as far as i  know, flex uses r1q2/r1gl too.

edit: yep,its a .wal file.

i could convert it to png or tga for r1gl and it "should" work perfectly,if you want?

Hmm.  If that's the case, I'll give it a try with all my other .pak files removed.

Strange though.  By definition pak0.pak has textures in it, so we always have "more than 1 pak that has textures in it" when we add a custom textures pak.

Maybe the problem occurs when multiple pak's have the same texture name but different filename extensions (.wal vs. .png or whatever.)

I use r1q2/r1gl

I think all the dm maps are touched up,  the window by hyper on dm8 has some info

I think of these as stock textures.  All I have ever seen since my second month of playing  :D

::) I'm sure that the rock texture (Dirt2f in my attached image) is from the very first Unreal game, probably the other ones are too.  I was browsing through old game cd's hoping to find some nice old textures and now that I'm taking a closer look at them I can only say that for that time Unreal had the best looking and most colorful textures. And although sparingly, it even used some 512x512 sized textures (in '98!!)

is there any way you can extract those textures ? (in png/jpg/tga format if possible)

I have all the UT games and i could use those textures (and some from ut 2k4) to retexture some quake2 maps  :afro:

yes the 'utx-viewer 2.2' that I'm using is not just a viewer but it also lets you extract textures with a rightclick, and you can choose .pcx, .bmp and .jpeg as output format.
Just pop in a UT cd/dvd and browse for .utx packages with the utx-viewer tool.

But be aware that Unreal uses its own color palettes so after extracting they need to be converted to RGB first or you'll end up with disco textures.
Anyway if you need tga it's best to extract them as bmp first, then convert to RGB and finally save them as tga, using photoshop/gimp/paintshop or whatever.

nice, ill google the UTX viewer, and get some sweet textures for ztn2dm3 THE RAGE! :D

i'll prolly convert the textures to Q2's colormap and convert them to .wal files from there, and then re-do them in .png format if it looks well and add some special effects that will make em look really nice.

Anyone have any suggestions for "themes" i should/could/would use for q2 maps?
for example i re-textured Q2DM1
http://tastyspleen.net/quake/forums/index.php?topic=12639.0
with an egypt look, what other themes would be nice for other maps?
