That thread is ancient. Posts from 2005-2006 is all. I imagine some are still relevant, but I'm sure many are not as well. Just a heads up!

Here's what mine generally looks like. You may notice my lighting is a bit different, it enhances the colors of textures more instead of relying colored lighting

If people are interested this is what I did (requires r1q2 and r1gl):

gl_coloredlightmaps "0"
gl_texture_lighting_mode "1"
gl_contrast "1.3"
gl_saturation "1.2"
gl_modulate "5"
intensity "2"
