Nah I just got a basic one. I deliberately wanted the 4 cyl for gas economy so it's the 2.4 litre. Not so great up hills with a load, but works fine for picking up lumber, bigger stuff and hauling crap to the dump. The inside is decent too- very carlike and has air-cond.

The big danger of turning off ignition at speed is loss of power brakes and power steering or the locking mechanism locking you into a direction you might not want to be going at 90 MPH.

So as far as the impact on american jobs, and the economy of american parts suppliers, it would seem buying Toyota effectively is buying American.
Although this is irrelevant to my point, I've never owned a Toyota, nor has anyone else in my immediate family. My parents drove Ford and Chevrolet since before I was born. I have a '93 Ford F-150, my wife has a Jeep Rubicon. Any-fucking-way...
