I always give deer hunters in Texas a hard time and tell them that it's deer "harvesting". Here they generally sit in enclosed, raised deer blinds and shoot them at about 50 yards out as they come in to feed at the auto corn feeders. These feeders spill out the corn at specific times of the morning and evening so you just get up in your blind about an hour or so before the feeder goes off, and as long as they don't hear or smell you, you've got a pretty damn easy shot.

Too many deer here though so you get at least 5 tags and they need to be "harvested" since there aren't really many Apex predators around. There are a few mountain lions and coyotes around, but not enough to put any significant pressure on the deer population here, especially around towns and cities. I'm used to deer hunting on public land in Arizona where you are driving, riding, hiking tracking, etc and hunting is hard, dirty work.

A big plus to the deer in Texas though, is that most of them are corn fed and taste delicious. You even get a bit of fat on most of them, which is unheard of for wild deer in Arizona at lest. Arizona deer eating twigs and leaves in the high desert mountains taste gamey as fuck though.

I'm not that excited about the high-fence ranch, guided trophy hunts that are probably what's going on in the photos here...now this guy is a bad mother fucker:

That's just what most hunters do. They take pictures of themselves with their kill. They may not always take the kill to a taxidermist to have the head mounted for a display trophy. So they have pictures of it instead. Just like when people catch a big fish, they take pictures of it. No big deal. Like I said, she ain't doing nothing illegal. If she was poaching, she probably wouldn't be taking pictures of herself with the evidence and letting it leak onto the internet, and she definitely wouldn't be filming it and broadcasting it on national television on a channel that promotes responsible and lawful hunting practices.

Yeah, that's what a lot of the hunting shows do. Not always, but quite often. They get to go to these ranches and hunt these monster trophy bucks basically for free because it's good advertising for the ranch. But if YOU want to hunt there, you gotta be some filthy rich douche, pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars, make reservations months in advance, and go out with some ranch employed guide who'll tell you which deer are okay to shoot and which ones you're forbidden from taking shots on. Fuck that shit. Might as well have the guide aim the gun for me too, and hold my dick while I piss too, why not.

Sure it would be awesome to shoot some monster buck with a rack that measures about 190-200 or more, but not like THAT. That's not hunting to me. Real hunting around these parts involves months of scouting and prep before the season even starts. You're either scouting for a wild location that sees lots of deer thru-traffic and then setting up your blind or stand accordingly, or you're setting out feeds and lures in a suitable area near a stand, or you're spending the entire summer planting and growing actual natural food plots to condition a larger number of deer to visit an area regularly. And they ain't fenced in, they can elect to visit or keep moving miles and miles away. Hunting ranches AIN'T sport hunting. There is NO sport to it no matter how large the area is as far as I'm concerned. They are forced to feed and bed in a finite number of areas. If the deer have the option to completely avoid any area you've scouted, THEN they have sporting chance at getting away alive.
