They pretty muched owned them for 3 quarters, but Dallas reverted back to the whole "let's give this thing away" mindset before it was done.  I'm amazed they came away with the win myself.

Yeah, ever since they played the Patriots, the Saints look like they're starting to get tired. I hope they pick the pace back up once the post-season starts. It would suck to see them play so hard for so long and then see them get upset by some mediocre wild card team in the divisional playoffs. If they end up facing the Vikings and (if they happen to beat them) the Colts, they will have to play flawlessly and mean like they did against New England. I won't be too upset it Favre and the Vikings make it to the Superbowl though. If he does, hopefully he'll win and say, "Okay, I think I've done enough now, time to finally really retire for real this time."

LOL, losing to Tampa Bay. Clearly, CLEARLY, they've decided to not give a fuck until the playoffs.

And I think it's also become crystal clear what someone needs to do in order to beat Indianapolis. Sever Peyton Mannings achillies tendon and take him out of the game. Then the Colts are totally useless. That Jets/Colts game was some sad sad shit.

Atlanta did great against Buffalo. Hopefully they can pick up this last game next week and have back to back winning seasons for the first time EVUR EVUR EVUR.

This is the first year I've paid close attention to College football in a long time. It's great to finally see Alabama back on top again after so many years, and also to FINALLY see an Alabama player earn the Heisman trophy. I... don't remember there being THIS many fucking bowl games before. Seems like as long as you have more wins than losses, you get to play in some kind of Carefree Lemonfresh Overnight Ultra-Absorbant Maxipad with Wings Bowl. Not that I really mind, it's a great excuse to get a few more games on TV at this time of the year. I'm loving it too man. Football every damn night for the next week or two, it's great.

If anyone isn't familiar with Georgia Tech this year, check out the Orange Bowl on Jan 5th. GT quarterback Josh Nesbitt is pretty cool to watch, he's not an amazingly accurate long-bombing passer or anything, but he usually picks up more yardage on his own than both of the runningbacks. He isn't shy about contact with linebackers either. He'll charge em down before he'll do the safe thing and slide.

HOLY CRAP!

Just got done watching the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl between Bowling Green and Idaho. Two teams with not-so-special records this year. Bowling Green's WR Freddie Barnes set the NCAA record tonight for most receptions in a single season. With 30 seconds left on the clock in the 4th, Barnes catches a long bomb to hoist Bowling Green up by 6, plus the extra point to make it 7. With 30 seconds left, Idaho tosses a bomb of their own to get them in the red zone with 11 seconds on the clock. The next play is a low bullet to WR Max Komar in the end zone. They come back with only 4 seconds left on the clock and instead of going for the extra point to knot it up and send them into OT, they go for the 2 point conversion. And amazingly enough, they FUCKING DO IT. Final score of 43 to 42, Idaho over Bowling Green.

I kinda feel bad for Freddie Barnes though. Would've been nice to end his college career with a bowl game winning TD reception in the same game where he broke the NCAA record for most receptions in a season.

I hope the big BCS bowls are good as that one. Ohio State and Oregon might be a close one. But I think Alabama is going to trample the shit out of Texas.

The Saint's get either Arizona, Green Bay or Philly in their first playoff game.  I hope it's not G.B.  Dallas looks to be the team to beat in the NFC - really hard-nosed defense, which always counts this time of year.  Green Bay has a stout D, as well.  If they had a decent offensive line they would be formidable.  I haven't given up on the Saints yet.  Injuries to their best cornerbacks have forced them into a vanilla defense that can't stop anybody.  They need the corners to stop opponents with 1 on 1 coverage so they can blitz or ball hawk with the safeties.  The extra time to rest and heal may be enough to put them over the hump but I don't feel very confident about them making the Super Bowl.   :'(

I think you can count Philly out. I think next week will be more of the same. Maybe not another shut-out, but I don't expect Philly to be able to stop Dallas unless their linebackers can fly into Romo quickly off the snap. It's pretty obvious that they can't cover Miles Austin for shit. Kind of gonna be a boring first round in my opinion. Two of the games will essentially be repeats. The Jets just got done PRISON RAPING the Bengals. Good for them, too. Chad Ochocinco needs to keep his stupid fucking fat mouth shut and just play the game like the "professional" that he's supposed to be rather than showboating like some new Deion Sanders, who really wasn't all that fucking great himself. I remember all the years he played for Atlanta. So he made one or two kickoff return TD's, big fucking deal. He fumbled a lot too. Anyway, back to "Ochocinco"... he made a comment in an interview that if corner Darelle Revis shut him down in this game, he'd change his name back to Chad Johnson. Hopefully he will. And hopefully the Jets will kick their ass again next weekend so I won't have to see that stupid twat again until next year.

I'd like to see Indianapolis take on San Diego in the Divisionals, but that probably won't happen. San Diego has a good chance of taking them. So far, I hate the way these schedules have worked out. There will be 3 games of teams facing their last opponent from the regular season. That's kinda crappy. I'm thinking that Dallas will win over Philly and have to face New Orleans, which will eliminate the Saints. I'd like to see how the Saints do against the Vikings.

Hopefully the matchups in week 2 will be more interesting.

So Dallas and Philly, GB and Arizona and Jets and Cinn again.  That is wierd.  Not as confident about the Dallas game.  Hard to beat the same team three times in one year.

from what i've read, the cards had two gameplans.  one for if the vikings won and one for if the vikings lost.  vikings won so we saw the resulting game plan in effect.

Not sure what "plan" you're referring to. But if you're referring to resting certain players, there's talk within the NFL of offering teams incentives to continue playing starting players through the end of the regular season in order to keep games competitive even though one team may have already clinched a first week bye in the playoffs. In a way, I can see the usefulness of it. One team that might be more playoff worthy might be down by one game to clinch the playoffs, while another team in the hunt may be going up against a team that has already clinched the playoffs. Not very fair that one team should get a rolled out red carpet and leave a more competitive team fighting for their spot tooth and nail. Houston Texans for example. I'm not sure if Cincinatti didn't exactly MEAN to lose horribly in order to instill New York with a sense of safety before they pull the rug out from underneath them. The Texans fought hard for their win in hopes of getting a spot in the playoffs. If the Bengals had won, they'd be in. The Colts last couple of games is what really brought the question to the table for the NFL competitive committee. I dunno what incentives they could possibly offer to make it worth the risk of losing a key player to injury.

As far as Dallas goes, I'm fairly certain they can handle Philly a 3rd time as long as the O-line protects Romo. It wouldn't take much to ruin them though, he's been having back problems lately, one hard sack from behind and they're screwed. It doesn't matter how open Miles Austin gets if you don't have a QB that can lay the ball out to him right.

Then again... The NFL is kinda weird this year. None of the teams have played consistent all year long. New Orleans started pretty strong, then got hardcore as fuck when they played New England, but ever since then they've fizzled. Cincinnatti has had a few great ones mingled with some down right pathetic ones. Same for Minnesota. Cincinattis game last night was purely fucking pathetic. They weren't running their routes with any kind of enthusiasm at all. In the first half, they had a total of 7 offensive yards. DIDN'T EVEN BREAK DOUBLE DIGITS!

I was hoping to see Atlanta get a spot in the playoffs this year, but they got plagued with injuries mid-season that cost them several games. They also took their sweet-ass time about cutting their shitty kicker Jason Elam who cost them at least 2 games. Hopefully next year we can go a full season with Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood... unless the GM decides to butcher offensive roster in the off season. They have a habit of doing that. Every time they start putting together a good combo of players, they trade and cut 3  to clear a path for one "good" player who ends up being a fuck-up. Can you say Michael Vick? Vick is not a "horrible" quarterback, but he's not neccesarily "good" either. He was a great college QB due to the threat of his running. But he wasn't that great with on the fly adjustments like Matt Ryan, nor was he ever very accurate from long distances. People in Atlanta hate him for more than his dog fighting conviction. We hate him because in his last season, he was more concerned with making money than making plays. Fuck that guy.

Agreed, last nights Cincinnati game blew monkey nuts.  I knew it was going to be a loss and think that was the intent.  But it was stupid of them to pretend as if they were going to go 100%.  Now they have a few more injuries and lost any playoff respect.  The Jets are a good team, Dirty Sanchez is the only limiting factor on a team with a great defense and run game.

If it was 'part' of a bigger plan, then we will need to see that next week.  Or it could back fire, since they have more hurt players and just looked sad.  They were able to control who they wanted to play next week.  Either win and play the Texans again, who beat them at home earlier in the season, or lose and play the Jets again.  Tough call, but I would have wanted the Jets at home, who knows how Sanchez will play in a game that size.

I hope next weeks game will be different, it is home field and they have key players back.  I will be in the stands, maybe my drunking yelling will help?

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
