Because anime has some Western influence (believe it or not), and includes characters with traits that Japs wish for but can't achieve: having big eyes, and actually looking different from one another!

Dead Rising

I thought it was going to be a fast paced shoot'em up. It's more like Grand Theft Evil (Resident Auto?).

It's slow paced, RPG style, monsters respawn every like 30 seconds, monsters are incredibly inconsistent, and the controls are clunky as all hell. Personally all of these things are perfectly fine for being a cookie cutter game with a new theme. In that light it's pretty fun and is all about killing zombies in ridiculous ways (i.e. bouncing soccer balls off of a group of zombies in order to knock them over).

My problem is that I recently bought House of the Dead 2 & 3 to get my zombie fix. So I go from fast paced arcade shooter to a game in which you can't run and attack at the same time. It's all about expectations.

Yeah I don't touch anything by CAPCOM unless it's Street Fighter. You just can't get the run-n-gun in their games.

Mass Effect 2 (PC)

I like its story and how they brought some of the original cast back. Just about to beat the game in a few more plays. Now the guns use universal Heat Exchange Clips that you use to cool down your gun AKA reload.

Just picked it up yesterday and loaded up the tutorial. The controls are pretty generic for a console FPS but the kicker here is that it's online only with 64-256 players. It plays like COD and I've been waiting for a massively multiplayer console shooter.

AVP 3

So far 8/10. Just started playing the Marine Campaign and they throw you into the suck pretty damn fast. I the first AVP I found it easy to deal with the bugs....just a quick squeeze of the Pulse Rifle to the head and they go down. It takes more now. Much more. The atmosphere and design are spot on.

I tried after pushing through a hive to be greeted by a Matriarch (Juvenile Queen) laying eggs above the main ducts to a refinery exhaust system.



Full immersion into the AVP universe. There are a couple references to the official novels.

A local video store is going out of business. I just picked up a copy of metal slug anthology and Alien Syndrome pretty cheap. I know the metal slug series is great (having played it in the arcade occasionally). I'll find out about Alien Syndrome soon. I have high hopes since it has perpetually been $20 for a used copy which generally means that it is good.

Glad to know that I'm not the only person who owned a master system, although I never played this game on that system. This wii one must be some kind of revamp to the series.
