poetry / essays / short stories? / Re: Haiku

That seems all too true.
It is a good argument
But not very fair.

One two three four five
Six seven eight nine ten twelve.
Whoops I had to skip.

as night descends upon the city
the streets are cold, the lights go by
and in the stories of the people
a million faces, a million lies
they'll never say they feel what you feel
that they can see the world you see
and in their faces, their expressions
a million faces, a million lies

Not only that, but I heard that there was some argument going on about whether or not to "extend" our solar system to include things that do qualify as planets.  There was a disagreement because it would mean adding something like 50+ planetary objects, and some were saying that it would have been too much.

Quake / Funny stuff
« on: February 23, 2006, 09:20:13 AM »
I saw this episode of a web comic and thought other Quake fans might find it funny too.  In this one, a video game-obsessed guy is out looking for a job.  You'll probably be able to figure out what happens by the time you've read the third talk bubble.

Trouble Shooting / Kicked?
« on: July 29, 2005, 07:40:14 PM »
So I just got kicked from the tastyspleen vanilla server with a message saying I'm using a modified client.  As far as I know, nothing has been done to my client except for when I updated it with the 3.20 patch that I needed to play multiplayer, and I did that months ago.  I don't know what the hell happened because that has never occurred before.

Quake / Weapon change times
« on: July 11, 2005, 11:43:54 PM »
I'm just wondering if there's any way to get rid of the second it takes to change from one weapon to another; if there's a way to get them to change instantly.  Because I just have my weapnext and weapprev commands bound to my mousewheel up and down.

Trouble Shooting / Random disconnects
« on: June 21, 2005, 11:34:43 PM »
Every so often I just get dropped from tastyspleen vanilla for no apparent reason.  There is no preceeding lag and the game just closes completely.  If I try to reconnect right away, I get a message saying "<my username> is already connected from <my ip>" and I have to wait a while before I can get back in.  Any idea what's going on?

Not sure if it matters, but I'm on dialup.

Thanks.  I'll have to play with those numbers a bit.

I'm in software.  Only the first OpenGL setting works, and it is so dark I can't see much even at max brightness.  Software seems to work the best, except for those shots.

Trouble Shooting / Taking screenshots
« on: June 17, 2005, 09:11:59 PM »
I've had problems taking screenshots it Quake 2, with both F12 and PrintScreen.  They save, but come out shatty.  Here are a couple examples; both are sections of a shot showing a pile of four boxes q2dm1.

With F12:

With PrintScreen:

I'm opening them with Photoshop, so I don't think that's the problem.  Anyone else ever encounter this?

Thanks very much.  One other thing... are all avatars forcefully resized here?  Mine was originally 70 x 70, but it's been stretched to a whopping 128.  Looks terrible.
