Taking screenshots

I've had problems taking screenshots it Quake 2, with both F12 and PrintScreen.  They save, but come out shatty.  Here are a couple examples; both are sections of a shot showing a pile of four boxes q2dm1.

With F12:

I'm opening them with Photoshop, so I don't think that's the problem.  Anyone else ever encounter this?

I'm in software.  Only the first OpenGL setting works, and it is so dark I can't see much even at max brightness.  Software seems to work the best, except for those shots.

Not sure what's going wrong with the screenshots.

But re: OpenGL... there are several variables you can tweak from the console that can really help crank up the brightness: intensity, vid_gamma, and gl_modulate.

When you tweak these values, you'll need to then type vid_restart to see the results.

Try, for instance:

  vid_gamma 0.5
  intensity 2.0
  gl_modulate 4.0
  vid_restart

That ought to brighten things up in OpenGL a bit.  Experiment with the values to see what looks best to you...

Its actually happened to me b4, too. But I fixed it by doin printscreen then pasting into PSP.
Dunno why it duz that though  ???

Anyway, that happened on my old computer (200 MHz, 48 MB RAM, 4 MB Video Mem) whenever
you went off Quake 2 while it was running (went to Windows) then back. Sometimes it seemed
to do it voluntarily too. But it was staying like that while playing! It actually looked really nice,
sometimes the colours would just shift hue too... anyway this probably isn't helping but at least
it's on topic.

I'm getting the same problem.. was just wondering if anyone had figured out a way to fix this?

Could be video card or drivers.  I remember on my old system when I was using integrated video and tried to do a screenshot it would come out blank, just black.

Doing print screen and then pasting in a photo editor works, but is a pain in the ass, because if you don't do it immediatly and forget, you'll end pushing print screen again.
