PAK Archive

We have been creating archives for q2 related files (maps, mods etc) and will be adding a pak directory to the downloads site to have a central location.

For those of you with tastyspleen storage space if you would copy/move the paks you would like included in the archive to a separate directory we can grab everything from there. For those that have files stored elsewhere if you can supply a link and I will get them from there.

For those of you that created custom paks you can zip them up using your player name so proper credit goes to the author.

Is there a description any where for the pak files. What each one is, for vid, for, weapons, for skins ect....????

Part of the fun is spam downloading a bunch and seeing whats in em! Oh the days of trawling hundreds of paks, putting them into baseq2 quickly firing up q2 map q2dm1 god give all and jumping around the place to see whats what :D

yea i'd like to mix n' match some pak sound files from q1, 3 and 4 .. stuff them in a pak and voila. problem is.. these paks aren't very descriptive.  :(

make one yourself... use pakscape and just open up and edit the pak files from each quake

mine has a ton of quakeworld sounds like mh pickup and rocket sounds

would be cool if u could get something like q3 where it says "you have taken the lead", "you have tied for the lead", "you have lost the lead". i hate downloading shit loads of pak files only to find they r shit. would be cool to see demo's, screenshots, and discriptions on what they look and sound like

now i figured out why you got tipped off when i had the railgun out. theres a louder hum in some of these paks.. gonna mod up mine for maximum funfactor as well as effectiveness..  of course they are all in the archive. i need some heavy footstep sounds too. preferbly the sounds from kreig in q3.. dunno where that is.. gonna keep looking.

No duke, rg_hum.wav is actually in the file checks on tastyspleen. Since vae uses anticheat, this file would show up as 'modified' if he had changed it. This of course applies to everyone... If someone has modified files, to see what they are specifically type 'acinfo player'. I run openGL in r1q2 so I'm fairly close to stock q2(to my knowledge you have to run r1gl for much of paks to work in r1q2 anyway). Footsteps will show up if modified as well (step1_4.wav).

Additionally, I think I'm the only one who could care less what their q2 looks like. And just fyi.. I can hear the normal rg_hum just fine. Doesn't need to be enhanced anyway.

I got a "section 8" pak from dukie years ago and is the only one I use. The only other thing I have is stuff lightened up where there aren't black spots everywhere. Other than that I don't care either...

lol.... no modified steps or rail hum, they give bad file checks on tastyspleen servers and i wouldnt be able to connect to irtdm with them because irtdm kicks for any failed file checks, and is more closely monitored aside from that making it one of the most secure servers as far as cheating goes :) i used to have the q3 rail hum in my pak, but i removed it so i could play on irtdm, i happen to like playing there... also as a side note, i dont even hear rail hum :P s_ambient 0 cause map sounds were buggin the hell out of me


now i figured out why you got tipped off when i had the railgun out. theres a louder hum in some of these paks.. gonna mod up mine for maximum funfactor as well as effectiveness..  of course they are all in the archive. i need some heavy footstep sounds too. preferbly the sounds from kreig in q3.. dunno where that is.. gonna keep looking.

do you have a pak that mutes all the annoying as fuck map sounds? :( i know they are out there, get rid of wind and whatever that annoying shit is on ztn and such... would love to be able to hear rail hum, but wind and shit cause more problems than the benefits of hearing rail hum... so im currently using s_ambient 0.... one reason i really like q2pro (even though i dont use it lol) is cause it supports s_ambient 2 to mute all enviornment ambient sounds while keeping sounds generated from entities
