you havta be scooting something fast for you to get hurt that badly when running into the side of a truck

Perhaps, but I think that if you come into contact with a moving object that easily weighs 50,000 lbs (25 tons?) you'll likely break whatever there is to break, if not on the first impact then on your way down. There are a lot of big wheels on the sides of those trucks so if he flew into the side while it was taking a corner then he could easily have come to fall under them...

Sounds like he was northbound and the truck turned from westbound to northbound in front of him. No brain bucket on head if the description of the injuries is accurate. Severe trauma to the face or skull ensues. It would appear he hit an edge or a fender at eyebrow level from the witness accounts. No fun, I am sure. Not sure a cyclist or blader helmet would have helped much.

Here is to a speedy recovery for him in the hopes for more "nade-clownage" in the future.

Most of the time, helmets are only worn as a fashion statement, lol. They CAN save your life, provided you find yourself flying head-first at a curb or a contoured object that could puncture your skull. If you hit something with enough force, a helmet will not really help. Your brain will still slap the side of your skull resulting in a concussion, bruising, possibly even bleeding and permanent gray matter damage. Remember that wonderful term from not too long ago, "persistent vegetative state"?

If you ever played against q2.f0cus, in teams,etc...there were times when a pyr3x stunt like that could be called "wish fulfillment." Few players, not even Granny, could match his almost compulsive "rematch?" whine...Rigg5, who could stomach almost ANY online personality, was one of f0cus' favorite targets.

Depends on who you ask.

Bicycle riders wear helmets in case... they're hit by a car? Hmm, but bicycle helmets don't have that little DOT sticker on back.... If a grandma plows into you with her Buick, having a bunch of styrofoam around your head may prevent any jagged edges of your broken skull from puncturing her tire, but it isn't going to prevent the weight of the car from squishing your head like a zit. I don't wear a helmet when I ride a bicycle, because I do the smart thing and ride where there isn't lots of traffic to hit me. Actually, I is a smoker, I'd rather duct tape the hair on the bottom of my nuts to a chair and stand up really fast than try riding a bicycle.

A lot of my friends are bikers with Harleys and choppers. They are your typical "Helmet laws SUCK, DUDE!!!" type of cruiser bike guys. However... my friend used to work at a Harley dealership in Athens GA. He rode one of the brand new Sportsters home one night when his wife couldn't come pick him up. He hit a fucking deer! If it weren't for the helmet, he would've smashed his head all over the highway. Of course the edge of the helmet did drive down into his shoulder and break his collar bone. I'd take a broken collar bone and a month or two of light duty at work over a smashed skull any day. He had to buy the bike or get fired and sued for the damage, LOL! He's bad luck on wheels. The wreck he was in before that, we all vowed that we wouldn't let him get behind the wheel again unless we installed a roll cage in his car.

My dad has had many bikes. Kawasaki's, Honda's, now a BMW. He says he'd wear one even if it weren't the law in GA. That's typically what I hear from people who ride those types of super-ish bikes. Those typically have a dangerous amount of power too. The Kawasaki Concourse he used to have was fucking massive and had assloads of power. The Honda Nighthawk (I think) he had after that was a light weight racing style bike. That son of a bitch would suck your eyeballs out through your ears when you'd juice it. No thanks. Those types of bikes acheive what I call "stupid speed". You'd have to be a little stupid to want to go that fast on 2 wheels. I prefer a nice cruiser bike like a low riding Harley Davidson Fatboy. On long rides your wrists don't hurt as much, they're much more comfortable to sit on, and your feet rest at ease on the floorboards.

Fact: A helmet will *help* reduce the chance/impact of your brain slamming against the inside of your cranium. The Styrofoam in bicycle helmets absorb the energy from impact.

With that said; I've never worn a helmet while riding a bike, blades, etc.  :frustration:  :bigshades:

Yeah helmets are built to absorb impact... that's the point of them. It's not like armor or something...

Foc some people just have he NEED FOR SPEED  :bananaw00t:

haha. seriously, if i was an expert at riding bikes i'd love to have an incredibly fast dukati or kawasaki or something to drive on weekends, just from the raw acceleration. i'd rarely go over 90mph with it.  knowing that you could smoke virtually every car on the road off the line ain't bad at all  :headbang:

Hopefully granny will pull thru ok and be back talking shit!
I have ridden in Delaware on my bike without a helmet but here in NJ we have to wear them. I have a Harley so its not super fast but I have hit 125 on it and any little glitch will kill you.    :ubershock:

When I was a teenager, I liked sport bikes. The fastest I ever went on two wheels was probably pretty close to 200mph. Yeah, I think that qualifies for "stupid fast". My buddy had a Katana 1100 souped up with nitrous injection. I rode it up I-75 from Atlanta to Chattanooga Tennessee in record time. While going north through Dalton GA, had it almost wide open doing probably 150. I juiced it with nitrous and held on for dear life. My butthole was so puckered up after that, you couldn't have rammed a pencil up my ass with a jackhammer. After about 10 or 15 minutes of that, I decided to slow it up lest I attracted the attention of any state patrol I might accidentally whiz by before I could slow down. Plus, I had to weave into the emergency lane to pass a truck. Oh hell yeah, it was fun. But definitely not sane, especially during the day when traffic is heavier. I decided to quit riding sport bikes after I fell off one when I was about 18. I was taking a turn onto another street when I hit a patch of rocks as I wrenched up the throttle. It flew out from under me. I was wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt. No broken bones, but both of my forearms and knees were skinned really bad. I had to walk around like the tin man for a month because if I'd bend my elbows or knees too much, I'd rip the scabs open. Fucked the bike up too. My buddy wouldn't allow me to ride it after that, lol.
