A coworker walked by and mentioned the error. I told him "Of course there's a server error! No one server can contain the rock awesomeness of the slash application. He requires at least 3 servers!"

Why Programs Have Bugs: Programmer produces code he believes is bug-free. Product is tested. 20 bugs are found. Programmer fixes 10 of the bugs and explains to the testing department that the other 10 aren’t really bugs. Testing department finds that 5 of the fixes didn’t work and discovers 15 new bugs. Repeat steps 3 and 4 three times. Due to marketing pressure and an extremely premature product announcement based on an overly-optimistic programming schedule, the product is released. Users find 137 new bugs. Original programmer, having cashed his royalty check, is now nowhere to be found. Newly-assembled programming team fixes most of the 137 bugs, while introducing 456 new ones. Original programmer sends underpaid testing department a postcard from Fiji . Entire testing department quits. Company is bought in a hostile takeover by competitor using profits from their latest release, which had 783 bugs. New CEO is brought in by board of directors. He hires a programmer to redo program from scratch. Programmer produces code he believes is bug-free…

Complaining about some SQL scripts that I've been having to do lately, an artist asked me to explain the issue. The following conversation ensued.

Me: I have to take the information from the database using scripts, but the way it handles data is not rational.
Him: What do you mean
Me: Well it's logical, but if I have a table and I want to search based on data that it's related to, I have to design advanced joins and unions
Him: What does that mean?
Me: Well it's just not rational. If I were to give my database $100 it would blow it all on junk food and candy.
Him: That's pretty irrational.

Social engineering. You are convincing the user to give up his information. Brute force is trying all combinations.
