I'd say athlete requires more skill then an author. There's more crap books out there then crap athletes. Not saying all athletes are good but even the bad ones (relative to the good ones of course) put more effort then many authors.

I honestly put musician above author but both lower on the list. Anyone can play music and write books and even bad ones can get paid for it. There's no proof of skill simply by giving yourself that title. There are many great musicians, but the title alone means nothing. Although anyone can buy a lab coat, Scientists generally implies an advanced degree and some sort of accomplishment. Same with doctors if it were up there.

I also think that Actor can stay there. Any schmo that sucks at acting will instantly be ridiculed for calling himself an actor. Let's put it this way. Few people would consider Stephen Baldwin a real actor.
