Vacuum my pc again!

I tried that, but the lung tissue broke up, started bleeding, and got stuck between the keys. Then I had to find something else to clean up the lung chunks.

I'm just lazy and never have cleaned mine either. Probably an inch of dust and dog hair in everything haha

Giving yer PC a good BJ every so often is a good idea.

layers of dust house dust mites,
a thriving family of these can do wonders for shorting out just about any kind of component.

Speaking of which....

Probably a month ago, I broke my old system down piece by piece and cleaned the 10 year old dust out of it. I put everything back in the same way, same cable connections, I'm mean EVERYTHING. When I started it back up, the floppy drive won't work anymore. The BIOS was set to check the floppy drive for a boot disk first before starting up. I had to go into the BIOS and disable boot from floppy on startup, otherwise I'd have to hit f1 to skip it. I don't think the drive is completely toast, the light on the drive is ALWAYS on now even though it won't read from it. Any suggestions anyone?

your best bet may be to assume that it's a goner. buy a media card reader drive with floppy drive to replace it, in the off chance that you like/use boot disks.. I ghost my HDs using a boot disk I made years ago, so I kinda like having the drive available, but for most people it's just taking up space.

if you don't need it, just get a blank faceplate for the slot it used to go in.

Sounnds like you have the interface cable connected wrong.

Located pin 1 on the cable (pink or red line) and connect it to the slot 1 of motherboard.

Sometimes it takes a bunch of trial and error before you get it right...

Everytime I've had a floppy drive with the symptoms you've described, it's always been the interface cable.

I really don't think it could be the cable. I made sure to reconnect the exact same cables in the exact same slots they were in before taking it all apart. I labelled everything to make sure I connected it back the exact same way it was before removal. I'll try screwing the cable, but I doubt it'll fix anything.
