Tastyspleen LiveFM - Quake II Shoutcasts!

At quakecon, you get to see\hear the awesome iTG guys shoutcasting all of the competition matches... I always thought that would be fun to try my hand at. Last night, I set up a shoutcast transmitter\server to broadcast stuph, and it turned out to work pretty smoothly. I would love to see this develop into a cool tool for us spleeners, and I'm looking for some input on what material could be used.
So far, I'm thinking:
League shoutcasts for important matches
Bi-weekly news
Interviews
Discussions (such as Config Editing Friday or something
)
Ideas? Comments? Spam?
Right now the server is located at my house in CA, so don't expect too great of a ping. The playlist file is hosted at
http://jehar.tastyspleen.net/tsradio.pls
, but all I have atm is music and me bantering from time to time. Feel free to help stress-test things though. Eventually the server itself will be on the tastyspleen box (hopefully).

Update for the day:
+quadz is now hosting the server on tastyspleen.net, freeing my bandwidth considerably (now the .pls is at:
http://tastyspleen.net:8000/listen.pls
)
+Was able to record voice+mp3 while broadcasting, AND playing q2
+Was able to use recorded mp3 combined with an aviexported (thank you aprq2) demo to make a .avi (after cracking divx)
+Started making a config for aviexport, so you're not stuck looking at my silly pak
+I have a monitor now for bitrate/bandwidth/usage
Things that still need to be done:
* I need to make a clearly structured set of folders, names, and conventions for all the files I'm definitely going to amass.
* I need to make shortcuts for the cfgs for recording
* I NEED to find a way to make the microphone record bound to a hotkey (why is this not a feature?
)
* A page displaying stuff would be nice. Don't ask me what stuff is yet.
* Scheduling software for syndicating broadcasts
* A schedule of things to come
* I need to practice shoutcasting so I don't Suck(tm)
* Need to find some better video editing software
* Radio spot mp3s

Daily updates:
+Found a way to download Movie Maker 2 without touching microsoft.com or service pack 2 (ugh)
+Casted devine vs syn, went well. Learned to tone the music waaay down so I'm more audible.
+Started converting\meshing the avi demo and the mp3 recording.
+Made some basic irc binds for radio status
+FINISHED EDITING vid (
http://jehar.tastyspleen.net/shoutcasts/2008-2-2_Devine-vs-sYn_q2dm8.wmv
)
DISCLAIMER FOR VIDEO:
Keep in mind this is a first for a lot of things in editing, commentating, etc.
Things I know are WRONG with the vid:
*music is too loud
*commentary sucks
*need a logo
*quality is meh
So you don't need to point these things out, since I've gone and readied myself to amend these things for the next match.

Friar: Via winamp, vlc, etc. Windows Media Player might even work. It's simply a streaming mp3.

* Need to find some better video editing software
best video editing software IMHO
.
you're a student, right? well, you can save over $100 on the student price by upgrading the commercial version:
Vegas 6 for $80
Vegas 8 Upgrade for $100
There's some really cool changed from 6 to 8, but you could most likely get along just fine with 6. i've been using that software since version 3 & I gotta say, besides Q2, it's the only other piece of software that's ALWAYS on my comp. I've done all my
video work
in the past several years with that software. All my video game related editing is done in that:
Doom 3 Fan Trailer
,
Top 10 Mods of all Time
&
Doom 2 TV commercial
.

Thanks for the tip, friend
I'll be sure to pir... er... BUY it soon.
Todays updates:
+Nifty cgi image that changes depending on radio status (thanks again quadz, you rock infinitely).
+DiscoDitto is now able to DJ on there, so that means more airtime.
+I've got a fairly painless way to do interviews via teamspeak or ventrillo now.
+Yesterday, made a couple groovy and silly radio spots which sound really nice with the cross-fading.
Things that still need to be done:
*Develop a robust schedule to fill up airtime
*Do a couple interviews for the sake of doing them
*Make more radio spots
Thanks to everybody for support and feedback!

Daily update:
+Found some AWESOME broadcast software, all with it's own mixers, recorders, encoders, stat logs... it does EVERYTHING. Well worth the illegal downloa... er.... purchase.
+Made a couple more spots. This process will go much quicker now, since SAM Broadcaster has it's own recording and mixing utils. Woot woot

Daily update:
*Though this software is awesome, I've been experiencing major lockups after a few hours. I have faith that I can reconfigure some things to fix this. I would have to lose access to these awesome features.
+Have a preliminary music playlist set up - good fraggin tunes.
*Need to re-devise a way to record live interviews\guest speakers, as SAM uses internal mixers.
*Asking Railwolf and quadz for interview possibilities.
Stay tuned!

Daily update:
*Stabilized the playlist, though the software still likes to fuck around me with in a fun variety of ways (explorer going retarded, filling my mixers with static, locking up, etc).
*This issue with the software is so bizzare in that it's damn useful and full of some awesome features that I have trouble parting from, yet it keeps crashing and locking up. There don't seem to be any other suites that compare, even. Hrm.
*Recorded AND broadcast an interview with Railwolf regarding the leages. Check it out:

So is this actual internet radio, or just a collection of pre-recorded events. Don't let Friar fool you. I'm more low tech than him.
I'd love to contribute content, anything from mods, to programming, and especially if we could get an event with many people contributing at once, like a giant conferance call during an event. I got lots of ideas and can be pretty much your servant for this project.
P.S. Anyone else feel like putting together a "you might be a railwolf if..." joke list.
