I think the reason our streets already harbor multiple fuckin punks/jerkoffs and all around losers is because kids don't get hit....I remember when I was younger, that was the rule; you fuck up=your ass is kicked--simple and sweet and I got the point, now when I say "your ass kicked" I don't mean grab a chair and bludgeon your kid with it, but there is nothing wrong with a quick swat across the back of the head if it's needed.

I have a friend named Katie, she has a 3 year old daughter named Kasey...Kasey is a great kid, funny, smarter than alot of 3 year olds are but she has zero concept of the word "No" or "you have to do this", she is one of those kids who you will catch with a full cup of water in her hands...you tell her to be careful and she'll stare at you and drop the cup just to see your reaction....now the other day Katie was arguing with her...now let that sink in, having an argument...with a 3 year old....she was telling her it's time to leave...Kasey said no and made Katie+her ride wait for 20 mins till finally I got pissed and said "she's fucking 3, make her do it, you're the parent"...she got mad, was I in the wrong?..I don't think so, I call it tough love.

Arm0r you hit the nail on the head. It's not as bad over here as it is in the UK. When I lived over there, kids were so protected, they would swear at Police officers who could do nothing. I remember a co-worker of mine who pushed a teenager who was attacking his wife into a river. He had to go to court and was fined for it.

My mom very rarely spanked us, the reason why was because she only had to look at you in a certain way and you stepped into line. My mom is the best mother in the world, but cross her and pay the consequences. I'm 28 and still would never disrespect her, neither would any of my brothers and sisters.

Armor i have a friend who is the same way with her (now 6) daughter. Emma would be acting out and yelling (in my house)  and her mother would say NOTHING. The only thing worse than arguing with a child for 10 mins to try to get them to behave is giving up, and not bothering to do anything anymore.
I don't like to boss other peoples kids around but when the parent isnt doing their job and they are in YOUR HOUSE I think you have a right to discipline.  OH and she would threaten the child with "Jake and Brandy are coming over you'd better be good!" because we discipline her and she knows it!  she knows she cant pull that shit with us. sad huh? her mom has to threaten her that way... I wish my friend would take back some of her parenting power.

Especially when it came to my dog, my dog loves kids and will follow them and kiss them (eww i know, dog kisses) and Emma is a mean little bugger,  and hits my dog all the time for coming to close. This really pissed me off when her mother said NOTHING.  I don't know, I dont think you should let your kids hit at all never mind a sweet excited animal of a friend you are visiting! poor dog was so happy to see a kid, then BAM kid beats her up LOL
oh and if her mom says no to her, the child will also hit her mom in the face. and her mom kinda laughs it off and gives up!!  wtf i dont understand it?!   

I think in a situation like emma and kasey, yes spanking is needed at some point, because children will call your bluff and push the limit testing you.
But I think over all if your children have respect for authority then spanking shouldn't be needed, just 'THE LOOK' should be needed to get the point across (like Kyrie said)

Daemia-- !!! that's exactly how Katie handles her sometimes...."were going over Adam and Amy's house, so you better be good"...and most of the time it works like a charm--you should see when we babysit Kasey for her...she is good, says please/thank you, plays nice with my tyke as well...just for some reason when Katie is around at the same time she feels because her mother is there that somehow she is out of my reach of power.....WRONG
