Managed to overclock my Microsoft 1000 generic mouse to 500 Hz, but no higher. It seems to shoot a bit faster. However I can find no utility that will raise the dpi rate for any mouse - short of buying one with it built in.

Seriously. It's cheaper than a pack of smokes, and it'll last for 6-8 months before you fill all of the pores in it with skin flakes, dirt, and second hand lubriderm.

Buy them in bulk and throw them away when they get gunked up.
Think of it as a hand shmutz filter.

ive used the office max pads and the expensive cloth pads and they really do make a difference, if you have the money to spend on the good pads i suggest you to pick one up.. don't listen to recycled

I am really liking the mousepad you gave me Naym,  thanks a bunch. again.
I tend to pick up the mouse alot,  and I think the lifetime of the poor thing just went up a bunch.
The top 'foot'  of my g5 had a snag on the corner, but peeling the whole thing off worked great

The difference is, that you'd have to be good, for the good mousepad to make any reasonable difference.

If you're shitty already, a 1000 dollar mousepad will not help you.
when you have to replace that same expensive pad, after the same interval as the shit one, you'll just feel poor on top of being shitty.

..Thus my liking of cheap disposable mouse surfaces.



Although, I do not use a laser mouse, so this could all be based on the ability of optical mice to do the same no matter what they are sitting on..

My mouse pad was $20 and has lasted me over 2 years now and still looks pretty decent. No sweaty wrist grunge you can write your name in.
