While it's not my cup of tea, Anime, as a form of cartooning, is huge in Japan. You can see it in mainstream cartoon shows imported here. Japan has very liberal laws and attitudes towards children and sexuality. A lot of it would be interpreted as child porn here but it's acceptable there. Oddly enough when it comes to ordinary porn they "pixelize" any image of genital contact in their videos so nothing can be seen. Go figure....
